    Broke 100 today woo woo

...and I'm not talking about my golf game.

You all have been very kind to this emoticonically challenged Premiere guy, and your lightheartedness and patience, in the face of what I am realizing are the same old user problems and comments, is amazing.

So here I am in The Lounge. Jeff is peeking out from behind the fern in the corner, Harm is working the door, and there's Bill bouncing around on stage. What a scene. I'll just assume a position down at the end of the bar, and maybe I'll jump back there and make a round of drinks from time to time.

Thanks for being on the forum.  Keep visiting often!

Mine right now is an IPA... and I think it's about time I got the broom out and swept up the peanut shells

Enjoy the place, and just remember that on the other side of the lounge door there is sometimes a bit of yelling by upset people who find there way here, but patience and shared information has saved many people from having complete meltdowns

              Congrats Jeremy!

You have survived your first test, and done well. Note: each new one will be more difficult, but maybe I should not have mentioned that.

I did think about your golf game, when I saw the the title. I was about to extend an invitation to join me for a round at one of my clubs here in "sunny" Arizona, though we are about to actually get into Summer. I figured that you could just take the Official Adobe Lear and pop over to Deer Valley Airport for a quick round - either desert target on the backyard course, or on a venerable, tree-lined traditional course, that was the site of the old Phoenix Open for decades, before it became a media event and moved to Scottsdale TCP. I usually shoot in the high-80's/low-90's on most courses and have almost broken 100 on Torrey Pines South, Pebble, Spyglass TCP Scottsdale and Kapalua Plantation. I usually am in the 102 - 105 range. Now, I did just shoot a 127 at Sedona Golf Resort, but we had a 40 knot wind, with gusts to about 60, so I do not take that round seriously. Balls were blowing off the green, and when they blew off the tee, they were flying across and off of the teeing ground! Made playing the North Shore of O`ahu seem like a piece-of-cake!

Now, get back to work and do not eat all the yoodles in the lounge. Jeff hasn't been going to Costco, as often as he used to...

              Nice to have you around,

I am certain that, in an establishment with such a sophisticated clientele, I (on my stool down at the end of the bar) am not too far from the Anchor Steam tap. Is there room in that fridge for my stein?

I just want to know who put in the full pub bar?  I was not consulted, and I'm not sure I like the loss of the Yoodle storage area.  If you can't find any Yoodles here, now you know why.

BTW, has Adobe guaranteed competitive pricing at this new bar?  That kind of guarantee is all the rage at airports now, where it seems you can buy anything that you can buy at home, but take it with you on the airplane.  Now why anyone would pay more and have to find a place in an overhead bin to store the stuff, instead of just waiting until they got home to buy it, is beyond me.

You know, some people just like to take "stuff" on a plane. On a particular culinary board, they are always asking where to pick up a muffaletta to eat on the plane home from New Orleans. Those are large, dripping with olive oil from the olive salad, filled with garlic-laden ingredients and messy as heck. My first recommendation is to buy a full rainsuit, and two rolls of paper towels. Personally, while I love those sandwiches, I cannot imagine sitting in a seat on SW Airlines next to someone eating one - even if they offered me some. I'd rather face Snakes on a Plane!

BTW - any chance of getting muffalettas served here?

Does that mean the REST of us have to start buying wine with corks instead of screw tops... to at least try to match you?

Hey, I just got a corked bottle of a neat little Arizona Viognier - dang, I hate when that happens. Though still a bit of a traditionalist, I am warming to Stelvin and others.

We drink a lot of Caymus Conundrum (white blend) here, and back a bit, I was getting at least one corked bottle/case. I'd save 'em up, and Costco would replace them, but it meant trekking back to Costco with a half-case of bad wine. They went to Stelvin a couple of years ago, and each bottle has been perfect. Still, old likes, and dislikes, die hard.

Now, if we could just get Shooternz to bring in some of his stash of Cloudy Bay!

I seem to have that same problem with various blends I've had -- an example is a Cain 5 (does it say Cain V on the bottle, I don't rememeber) I had for something like 10-15 years, brought it out to dinner and yech! corked.

For as long as I have had the "Cain Five," it has had the name in a serif font. Wonderful blend of many of the five approved varietals from Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Some years, one gets all five. Some years, it's more like "Cain Three," or "Cain Four." It all depends on the year. As it is a proprietary blend, the ATF laws on % of varietal will never apply. Many of the Super Tuscans do the same, as the Italian laws preclude many of the grape varietals for that region. Same for other producers in the US. Joseph Phelps' vaunted Insignia is classified as "Red Table Wine," though it retails for US $ 175 upon release and garners 90+ pts. for almost every wine critic. Usually, it's 95+, with many 100's. Same for Magnificat, and many others. Cain can use whatever grape varietals they wish, though have historically stuck with those 5.

To me, a great wine, and one that I have in the cellar, though not in the quantities, that I would like. I also like the Cain Claret, which is the "little brother" to the Five, and at a more approachable price. Just had a couple of bottles with grilled beef at a local restaurant, and some at the table thought that we were having a 2nd - 3rd growth Bordeaux - it was that good, and at a very fair price.

If you ever get the chance, head up into the Mayacamas Mountains above St. Helena (a good GPS will help) and visit them - reservations required. Great tasting, and it will be remembered. Do not forget the GPS.

Three of my best friends are wine guys -- literally.

We all met working in restaurants, bartending, and one is now a wine manager for a distributor, one is a beverage director for a restaurant group, and one is a sommelier.

Yes, they DO sound like "wine guys." In my case, I am just a "wino."

I hang out in various AVA's, when were in the wine country, and I manage to get invited to a bunch of trade tastings, and have the WS Grand Tasting events in the past (especially when they were in SF, every other year). In real-life, the closest that I come is to being a board member of the International Wine & Food Society.
