    Bizarre apostrophe inversion in InDesign

I searched the forums with no success, so I thought I ask about this. Here goes:

Occasionally we have issues with apostrophes not showing up properly when typing in InDesign. It is not a problem when placing Word documents, nor is it a problem when typing in Word. In fact, it's only a problem in *some* documents. I have two documents open right now, one of which correctly interprets my keystrokes when I type "can't won't don't" and one that doesn't. This is the case no matter which font or paragraph style I have selected.

Most often, we place documents so hasn't been a huge problem for us, but it certainly is annoying. I think it was a problem when we were on CS2 as well. Any idea why this is happening? I'm totally stumped.
