Can't silence audio clicks?

I've already recorded the demo and have done heavy tweaking. But in Preview mode, every click still comes with a deafening audio response. I've turned off audio in every conceivable place, editing the individual properties for each click, as well as the master audio options. No audio ANYWHERE and yet still the clicks. Is this a "feature"? This is driving me mad.

This is awesome! It's a shame we have to have workarounds like this, but a very elegant solution.
