1. Re: What happened to the help feature in CS5
John Joslin Jun 11, 2010 10:49 PM (in response to `Ken`)You can restrict your search to the help topics only, but I think the new "improved" help is a retrograde step.
They fixed it when it wasn't broken.

Zeno Bokor Jun 11, 2010 11:28 PM (in response to `Ken`)Make sure to selct the Adobe Reference Only checkbox in the Help Client as that will narrow down your search results to only those from the help files. The reasoning behind removing the table of contents when you're viewing the help pages is that the view would be too cluttered in the Help Client with both a table of contents and the search results vissible. I for one don't quite agree with this idea but they did say that they'll revise this behavior based on customer feedback (which you can give in the Community Help forum)

`Ken` Jun 12, 2010 5:16 PM (in response to `Ken`)Thanks for your responses. I agree that they fixed what wasn't broken. In past versions of PS I
found it fairly easy to locate help topics, now it is more of a struggle. It might be easier to do a google search instead of using PS help.

4. Re: What happened to the help feature in CS5
Todd_Kopriva Jun 12, 2010 6:20 PM (in response to `Ken`)As Zeno mentioned, you can restrict the search to just the Photoshop CS5 Help document by checking the "This reference only" checkbox. Click here for an example of such a search.
Regarding the lack of an index: Are you referring to the navigation pane (sometimes referred to as a table of contents) on the left side of every page, or are you referring to something else? Either way, I encourage you to give your feedback on the Community Help forum. The people who can affect this system are on that forum.

5. Re: What happened to the help feature in CS5
`Ken` Jun 13, 2010 5:19 AM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)Checking the box is an improvement, but I still prefer having the table of contents. I suppose the simplest thing might be to download the PDF manual. Maybe it has an index that links to the appropriate section. When I tried downloading it from PS help, the help window froze up. Perhaps I can locate the PDF somewhere else?

Zeno Bokor Jun 13, 2010 6:12 AM (in response to `Ken`)Don't click on that link as it's a 40mb PDF file and you'll die of old age till the acrobat plug-in displays that in your browser. Right+click on it and select Save Link As
