Hi all,

I downloaded the Japanese evaluation of RoboHelp 8, and I cannot install it on a Japanese machine (virtual machine).

It tells me in the middle of the installation that a problem occured and that it needs to close.

I tried downloading it several times, however I am experiencing the same issue.

Does anybody have any idea as what could be the cause of that?

Thank you,

Bogdan Marin

PS It is a Windows XP Professional system

Hi Colum,

Thank you for your reply, however as I tried to go to the page you suggested, it gave me the message that it does not exist.

Did the URL change somehow?

Have a great day,

Hi Peter,

Thank you very much.

I found a typo in the URL that I received and after I corrected it, it worked for me as well, however, as I stated in my previous message, the error message I am getting when trying to install the eval for RH8 is not about privileges, but about not sufficient memory, which is not the case.

I tried the install on different machines, and I got the same message, so I was wondering if there is not an error on the eval install program.

I downloaded it several times, so I do not think that it would be any error due to the download, though I have some issues some month ago when the flash would not download properly from the Adobe site. So, I wonder if there is not a similar issue now.

Have a great day,

Bogdan Marin

I'm not aware of any download problems and haven't seen anyone else post with anything like this. That said, the download problem could I guess be at your end.

Have you tried on a machine outside your network?

What sort of spec machine have you tried on?

Could be that the error is on my end.

I tried to install it on VM Windows XP Professional machines with enough space on the hard drive.

I am basically downloading the eval on my hard drive, and then I try to install it from there, so I do not see any potential problem related to the network.

Everything is on the local machine.

Is it possible to download the eval w/o using that download manager from Adobe?

I take it VM means Virtual Machine. I'm not sure you can do that as I understand that RH writes to the boot sector. How that works on a virtual machine is way beyond my knowledge.

I believe the Download Manager is the only way, not 100% sure.

Hi Peter,

Because of localization reasons I have to have virtual machines, and right now on all of them I am doing translations with the RH7 is working just fine.

I never had issues when installing it on a VMWare machine.

I will try to see how it is working on my host machine, just for the sake of experiment, however I do not think there would be a problem with the VMWare.

I tried to install the eval also on my host computer, and I got exactly the same message, so there is no

issue with the VMWare. Somehow, I guess that the install program of the eval was not downloaded properly, or there is a problem with the package on the Adobe site. I am not sure.

It just replicates too identically on all my machines to be a problem with just one of my machines or VMWare.

Are you able to download it from another location is about the only other thing to suggest. If it were the source, I would expect to see other posts.

Sorry I cannot offer anything more positive.

Thank you Peter.

I understand that a solution would be an alternative of the download site, or an alternative to the download manager, like to be able to use the default doanload manager from Windows.

I already ordered the free DVD from Adobe, so I will be waiting for that and then try again.

Could be also a problem with our firewall. I am not sure.

Thank you,

Bogdan

Sorry Colum,

I just figured out that it was a typo in the URL you sent me.

I managed to check the page you suggested, however the error message is not about not letting me install the RoboHelp 8 because of lack of privileges. I am installing it as administrator, so it lets me install it, however towards the end of the install it gives me an error message about "not sufficient memory"!? on my hard drive, though I have enough of space on my hard drive. Therefore I am a little bit confused.

I tried to install the trial on several machines and on all of them I got the same error message, so I am wondering if there is not an error in the install pack.
