How to change the menu button picture?

    Igor Valentovitch Community Member

      Hi,

How can I change the picture (or the 'movie frame') that appears in the sub-chapter menu buttons (those that link directly to different movies) in Encore CS5? By dedfault there appears the first frame from the sequence which in my case is black as I start my sequences with 'dip to black' dissolves. So, all of my sub-chapter menu buttons have black pictures as a result of that. I don't want to animate them, I just want to learn how to pick a frame from the sequence and turn it into a menu button picture.

      Thanks

Click on the chapter marker in the timeline to make it red.

Set the CTI on the frame in the timeline you want to use for the button.

Right click red chapter marker and Set Poster Frame.

Do the same for the other chapter markers.

            Igor,

In you Timeline, you have the option to either create a Poster Frame, or to move the Poster Frame, as desired. The reason that I mention both is that if En has set a Poster Frame Marker, you just need to drag it. If that Marker is included in the Chapter Marker (often the case), you will need to Click it (will then turn red), move the CTI (Current Time Indicator) to the desired Frame, and then Rt-click it and choose Set Poster Frame. Hint: I like to zoom in on my Timeline, so that have a bit more control in choosing my Poster Frame. The default view is the entire Timeline and hitting the perfect Poster Frame can take some time and effort. By zooming, one has more control.

Also note that if you did the Transcode to MPEG-2 before Importing the Assets as a Timeline, you will only be able to set the Poster Frame on an I-frame, so may only have a choice every 12 - 15 Frames.

Good luck, and hope that helps,

              Dear Ann and Bill,

Thanks a lot for your help!

Unfortunately, I can mark only one answer as correct and I decided to give advantage to Ann as her reply was first and she is a lady.

I know Bill will not mind.

              Regards,

              Igor
