Photoshop CS4's GPU Acceleration on mobile Intel Mac laptops?

    cgrscott Community Member

I have Photoshop CS4's GPU Acceleration working on my Mac Pro, since it is equipped with the 512 MB ATI Radeon X1900 XT GPU.  I'm trying to find a Macbook Pro that is supported by Photoshop CS4's GPU Acceleration.

I looked up the list of supported graphics cards:

      http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405711.html

It looks like these may be the only mobile GPU's supported by Photoshop CS4's open GL Acceleration:

      MACTEL nVidia 8600M 256MB

      MACTEL nVidia 8600M 512MB

        and

      Macbook Air intel GMA X3100

Does this mean if I wanted to get a 15" Macbook Pro that is supported by Photoshop CS4's GPU Acceleration I would need to get either of these two Macbook Pro models?

         1.) Apple MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 15" (MA896LL) with nVidia 8600M / 256MB video memory

         2.) Apple MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.5 15" (MB134LL/A) with nVidia 8600M / 512MB video memory

Both use the Mobile GeForce 8600M GT with GDDR3 SDRAM.  Is this the MACTEL nVidia 8600M 256MB that Adobe is talking about on their list of Mac OS supported GPUs?

If any Adobe software engineers or support staff can help me clarify what Mac laptops have the CS4 GPU Acceleration support, I would greatly appreciate it.

If any Photoshop users have been able to get Photoshop CS4's GPU Acceleration to work on their Powerbook, Macbook, or Macbook Air, could you let me know in this forum thread?  Please let me know what mobile graphics processor your notebook has, regardless of weather it is a dedicacted GPU or an intagrated GPU.  If you are running Photoshop CS4 on an Apple MacBook Pro with an nVidia 8600M mobile processor, I would especially like to hear from you.

With Photoshop CS4 launched, go to "Preferences/Performance" and under "GPU Settings/Detected Video Card:" The option "Enable OpenGL Drawing" will be available if your graphics processor is supported by PS4's Open GL Engine.  If it is not, the option "Enable OpenGL Drawing" will be grayed out, as it's grayed out on my Powerbook G4.

I appricieate you taking the time to check for me!
