Bill Hunt Jul 7, 2010 4:48 PM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)For most apps (probably all) in the CS5 suites, Adobe does not print a manual any longer, unfortunately. They have been working hard to get the electronic Help tuned, so that things can be added almost instantly, and the file will be evergreen.
Going back to the CS2 Creative Suite Premium, the manuals were no longer in my box. I, like you, ordered the full set from Adobe Store, and they were worth the US $ 60 for the whole suite. Now, when I upgraded to CS2 Production Studio, I DID get all manuals, but would have bought them too, though PS and AI would have been duplicates. Now - it seems that manuals are no more.
I am not familiar with the Missing Manual series, but got some major recs. on it for a copy of PSElements, that I gave to a friend. He enjoyed that book, and found it very helpful. That seems to be a good rec., though obviously for the "little brother" to PS.
I am like you - a book person. I like the feel of them, the smell of them, and the ability to write all over them. I will miss them.
Hunt

gener7 Jul 15, 2010 11:06 AM (in response to stephen.s1)Simply download the CS5 pdf and either print it out yourself or go to Kinkos or any copy place and they should print and bind one at reasonable cost.

7RAG77 Jan 22, 2011 3:34 PM (in response to stephen.s1)Actually Stephen, could you tell me how to download the CS5 manual because I don't see it anywhere.
Isn't quite ridiculous that it wasn't included in the DVD that we paid a lot of money for? I mean, it is the manual. Abobe wants to go "green" great, but, put the manual in the dvd. My goodness what a hassel.
Anyway, I have done a google search and haven't found a page on Adobe's website to download the manual

7RAG77 Jan 22, 2011 5:03 PM (in response to PECourtejoie)Hey, thanks a lot. I've been a professional photoshop user since 2.5 and thus haven't really needed the manuals for a long time but, they added a lot in the last couple of versions and wanted catch up.- with Indesign as well.
It would be more straight forward to just have it in the DVD and also have a link in CS5 programs for the direct manual download.
Thanks again. This works.

AngBailey Jan 25, 2011 6:54 PM (in response to PECourtejoie)Bless You! Bless You! Bless You! Mr. PECourtejoie!
If you lived anywhere nearby, regardless of your married status, I'd be headed to your doorstep to give you the most GIANT kiss you've ever had in your life!!! LOL
I have been searching the Adobe site and trolling forums for 4 months trying to find that precious little link to let me into the Magic Kingdom of Manuals! Yet I never could find it. I have been a user of Adobe products for YEARS, but like 7RAG77, still need instruction. And I also think, as 7RAG77 pointed out, it was RIDICULOUS for Adobe not to include a PDF copy of the manuals in the $1900 CDs! It's like buying a "porche" without the "keys"!
I have tons of friends who are also Adobe users and had called them begging for the info I needed when I bought my latest CS5 software (since much had changed). It was taking me hours to do things I used to could do in my sleep... just for lack of being able to find what I needed, when I needed it. I had to spend way too much time searching the web for answers. But found in all my phone conversations with my other designer/illustrator friends that they were just as disappointed, angry and frustrated as I when it came to the "missing manuals."
Now my friends can rejoice along with me... as I will be sharing these links with them. (I gambled, and won, when I figured I could replace the photoshop word in the URL you shared with additional Adobe product names, and located the other manuals I needed too.)
You, Mr. PE Courtejoie... YOU held the KEY to the Adobe Kingdom! I cannot thank you enough!!! XOXOXO!!!

13. Re: Using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Manual???
PECourtejoie Jan 26, 2011 2:31 AM (in response to AngBailey)I'm glad I could help you, and your friends!
But do search on your hard drive, there is an adobe help application that loads the content from the web, lets you load different help files, shows the PDF links, but also lets you show the comments.
I'm currently in process of adding a lot of relevant info in the help files, and will also update the FAQs of this very forum, those resources indeed deserve more visibility.
Another reason that the help file is on the web is that its content gets updated every now and then. So, do check regularly!
To easily find the help files: Adobe.com > help > select your product, then click the Help link (usually the third one)
Keep spreading the love, the world is much better that way

15. Re: Using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Manual???
For Valor Jan 28, 2011 12:03 AM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)You know, it used to be easy to spot the counterfeit boxed copies of Adobe products by the lack of printed manual within. Even a sealed boxed counterfeit could be identified by its weight (or, to be more precise, its lack of weight); while it's very easy and very cheap for the pirate's to duplicate CD's and run-off printed boxwork, the duplication of an extensive manual of the size that once came with Adobe product, is simply far too expensive and time-consuming a task for the pirates to undertake. So it can be reasonably argued that a direct consequence of Adobe's decision to discontinue the inclusion of printed manuals in their packages has been to make it difficult, if not impossible, for consumers to identify dodgy copies before payment is made; ergo, Adobe has aided, albeit unwittingly, the pirate.
Help stamp-out software piracy, Adobe. Bring back the printed manual.
