Harm Millaard Jul 22, 2010 10:13 PM (in response to saifblade)Read the download page on the limitations. No MPEG support in the trial.
Congratulations!. You are now number one in a long list of 9.738 others to NOT read the limitations that are clearly stated.

saifblade Jul 22, 2010 10:24 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)I'm a bit confused as to what you're saying. I was able to successfully edit and export .mts files yesterday but today I'm having a problem with a different project. If this is the case, then why did it work before? I even uploaded my video to youtube if you want proof that I exported in h264 . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArE0dE-2mdc

saifblade Jul 22, 2010 10:34 PM (in response to saifblade)Also isn't h264 different than MPEG , I don't think I said MPEG .

5. Re: Premiere Pro cs5 freezing my computer when exporting
Bill Hunt Jul 23, 2010 7:49 AM (in response to saifblade)If you have the trial, you should have zero MPEG support in it. H.264 is a flavor of MPEG, and only the wrapper is different.
Not sure how you have been able to get the trial to Import, edit and Export anything MPEG, as it is not supported. The full-paid version is not crippled, and Adobe offers a 30-day, money-back guarantee, if it does not work well for you.
Good luck,
Hunt

thenoisystuff Jul 23, 2010 3:06 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)I'm being a little playful here but I couldn't help picking up on your continental interpretation of numbers. In UK I would take this to mean that 9 people had definitely not read the limitations and maybe one had almost but not quite (.738) To comma or not to comma, that is the question! (?)
P.S. Does that mean you have only made 12 point 307 posts since Aug 11 2002?

7. Re: Premiere Pro cs5 freezing my computer when exporting
Todd_Kopriva Jul 23, 2010 10:51 PM (in response to thenoisystuff)To be a little more precise about what's not in the trial:
Nothing MPEG-2 is in the trial.
H.264 is part of MPEG-4.
But (and here's the confusing part), some formats use MPEG-2 transport streams for MPEG-4 data. And, because nothing MPEG-2 is in the trial, these are out, too.
So, there are some MPEG things in the trial, and H.264 in any wrapper or transport stream that is _not_ MPEG-2 is one of those MPEG things in the trial. For example, F4V is H.264 (MPEG-4) video in a Flash Video wrapper, and that's in the trial.

Bill Hunt Jul 24, 2010 7:48 AM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)Todd,
Thanks for that clarification. I see that I was laboring under some false impressions, and greatly appreciate that extra info. Thing are a lot more clear, at least to me.

9. Re: Premiere Pro cs5 freezing my computer when exporting
thenoisystuff Jul 24, 2010 8:05 AM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)just interested, Todd, to know why mpeg2 is so no-go for trial versions? is there an mpeg2 czar that sits above us (and Adobe presumably) looking down on his or her creation and monitoring mis-use?

10. Re: Premiere Pro cs5 freezing my computer when exporting
Todd_Kopriva Jul 24, 2010 8:26 AM (in response to thenoisystuff)Adobe licenses MPEG-2 codecs from another company, and the terms of that agreement don't allow for the free distribution of these codecs.

11. Re: Premiere Pro cs5 freezing my computer when exporting
NeonaMatrix Jul 24, 2010 11:07 AM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)So does that mean....
The MPEG parts are not installed in trial version. So, if I try the CS5 suite and then buy it and hence enter the serials, then I can use the MPEG codecs directly.
OR should I download some additional content from the web-site to install the MPEG codes and there by enabling support to Premiere Pro?

Yes.

You may install anything you want (but I personally would not, unless I was 100% sure of the source) and the trial version STILL will not work with any MPEG codec
The trial has a built-in "lock out" that prohibits using MPEG, no matter what else you have on your computer
