1. Re: Camera Raw images unaffected by xmp
Curt Y Jul 28, 2010 10:45 AM (in response to robirdman1)If you have the quick version of thumbnails edits to raw files will not show. You need to have one of the HQ thumbnail options.
The trade offs are longer load times, and large cache size.

robirdman1 Jul 28, 2010 12:07 PM (in response to Curt Y)This is CS4.
As have had the high quality thumbnails till this unwanted change occurred, I must confess that I don't know how to return to the previous state.
In the unhelpful Adobe help, searching for high quality thumbnails turns up a slew of irrelevant material not even related to CS4.
Also I can't figure out how to return my original workspace to the state it was. This change occurred quite a while back. Originally I think that there were icons at the top to choose between essentials, big preview, metadata etc. Now only one text choice appears and others must be revealed by a drop down menu. Resetting workspace doesn't alter this.

3. Re: Camera Raw images unaffected by xmp
Curt Y Jul 28, 2010 1:24 PM (in response to robirdman1)Assuming CS4 is more similar to CS5 than CS3 look on the second line of the toolbar on right side under essentials. There you will see 3 icons to change the thumbnail quality. If you use prefer embedded you will probably not see changes in edited raw.
To reset the workspace clck on Window/Workspace/reset to standard workspace. You said resetting workspace does not alter this so click on another workspace and see what happens.
If you like a worksapce a special way your can drag panels around and then save with special name.
Hope this helps.

robirdman1 Jul 29, 2010 5:30 AM (in response to Curt Y)Thanks. this helped and I was able to choose hi-quality and regain the modified images.
I am still unable to recover the original workspace though, which had a choice of essentials, big preview, medadata, etc choosable at the top rather than from a drop down menu. None of the other choices reverts back to what I had originally, when there was a tab for both content and big preview and I didn't have to go through a menu.

Curt Y Jul 29, 2010 7:01 AM (in response to robirdman1)Look at one of the tutorials on "building your own workspace". It will should you how to drag around the panels to suit you and then save it. Or you can just experiment.
