No layer break in Encore CS4?

    sebrame Community Member

I'm having such problems with Encore CS4 misplacing a layer break in a DVD9 project, and I'd much rather set my own in PGCEdit or Gear Pro. I've read posts here that indicate you can output from Encore without a layer break. However, in the Build dialog, there are only selections for 'Automatic' or 'Manual', and, as I've read from others, the 'Manual' setting probably shouldn't even be there because it is totally ignored, and Encore seems to only be capable of 'Automatic'. If anyone is actually making an image without a layer break, how are they doing this?

When I have had issues with Layer Breaks (not that often), I have just done a Burn to Folder, Opened that in ImgBurn (Gear Pro should be similar), and then used ImgBurn to set the chosen Layer Break.

Good luck, and I hope that the Burn to Folder will do what you need.

That's the problem...when I Burn to Folder, Encore sets a layer break, and there is no selection in the dialog to turn it off - it's either 'Automatic' or 'Manual', and 'Manual' NEVER works

I have then tried as you suggested, but when I use ImgBurn to set a manual break(following it's cell recommendations), GEAR Pro will then create a DDP with a Layer size greater than a DVD9's layer, so the eventual glass mastering fails. I have been told that this is a symptom of having 2 layer breaks in the project - Encore's, and then ImgBurn's.
