2. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
Ralph Eisenberg May 27, 2010 5:38 AM (in response to Murat Ozgul)It looks like we've covered the same bases. Another alternative is that the download is not effectively available, despite notification to the contrary.

6. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
mariopocoroba May 27, 2010 1:32 PM (in response to Ralph Eisenberg)I just went to the Adobe Application Manager to see about this update for Bridge. It states that "This update enables the Export panel and includes several important bug fixes.... Learn More". Clicking Learn More, and then selecting the appropriate product on the web page "Bridge - Macintosh" (YOU HAVE TO USE THE PULL-DOWN MENU TO SELECT YOUR PRODUCT) leads to information listing all Bridge updates going back to November 2005, and only as current as December 2008.
Can we get this link in Adobe Application Manager and the Bridge update page fixed please?
Other than that, running the update from Photoshop CS5 - Updates - Adobe Application Manager, worked just fine - and I have a buggy copy of Photoshop CS5 Extended, installed from disc.

7. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
Murat Ozgul May 27, 2010 2:30 PM (in response to Ralph Eisenberg)There is no any update for Bridge in Adobe update download page. WHY? All other update is there but bridge doesnt. I think Adobe remove this update.
-
8. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
mariopocoroba May 27, 2010 2:36 PM (in response to Murat Ozgul)That's exactly what I said above, (except that Bridge IS there - just very old update versions), and I asked that Adobe fix the page, and also the link within the Adobe Automated Updater, which installed fine here. I couldn't find a web link for the updater in Google, so possibly it's only currently available from the Help menu in Bridge or Photoshop.

9. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
Murat Ozgul May 27, 2010 2:46 PM (in response to Ralph Eisenberg)Yes but problem still continue on there. I tried Adobe Update Manager, find two updates Premier and Bridge premier works perfectly but bridge dont. And we can see Premier update on Adobe Download Update Page.

10. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
mariopocoroba May 27, 2010 2:53 PM (in response to Murat Ozgul)Well Adobe employees read these forums and I've pointed out the issue with the updater here and also on another topic thread. We'll just have to wait for them to fix it. Possibly.... by September.

13. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
mariopocoroba May 27, 2010 7:04 PM (in response to Chris Cox)Hopefully that team will update the Bridge update page because the updater within Photoshop and Bridge isn't functional for some folks, apparently. Just like Bridge doesn't even install at all on a Photoshop CS5 Extended installation for my co-worker. He doesn't even have access to Mini Bridge on his installation. This is on a brand new Intelintosh. Like my CS4 install though, we're both doing fine, except some file saves are problematic when saved directly to an NT server.
I loved it in 1992 when Photoshop still came on floppies and didn't suck up so much disk space or require so much memory, and installed FLAWLESSLY. Those days are gone. Maybe if Apple never left the Power PC platform, we'd all be OK - Who TF knows.

18. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
And. May 28, 2010 8:34 AM (in response to Ralph Eisenberg)I run the German edition of Photoshop/Bridge CS5 (WinXP/SP3). Since two weeks updating with Adobe Application Manager has not been working ("server does not respond"). Since yesterday the current update for Bridge (4.0.1) is shown in the AAM window but installing fails ("another instance of updater is already be executed).
Ticket at Adobe support is still open.

20. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
Ralph Eisenberg May 28, 2010 8:55 AM (in response to And.)Hello And.
The team appears to be hard at work attempting to resolve this issue. I suspect that a solution will be at hand, shortly. They certainly are to be commended.

21. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
Ralph Eisenberg May 28, 2010 2:03 PM (in response to Ralph Eisenberg)Re-installing PS CS5 with, I would assume, the associated localization files that I had considered unnecessary as in the past and deleted, appears to have resolved the issue of the failed install. Note that a very cursory reading of the Bridge logs led me to suspect this, and a message from a member of the Adobe team made me more confident in this supposition. Irrespective of the relevant causal relationship, it works! and there is a treat in new Bridge functionality, as promised. And it works, a true timesaver (I'm referring to the export module).

22. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
Murat Ozgul May 28, 2010 3:29 PM (in response to Ralph Eisenberg)Yes you are right Ralph. I re-install PS and problem solved. I think I know mein problem what is it. Im using CleanMyMac and this program delete my .Iproj files when I re-install PS my all .Iproj files come back and Bridge CS5 update works perfectly there is no any error.

24. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
Murat Ozgul May 28, 2010 6:38 PM (in response to And.)Probably didn't. Cause Im using mac. I sent my log and they said your problem is es.Iproj files missing. After that I re-install and my all .Iproj files came back. Bridge update works fine. If you sent your log probably they will found your problem, what files are missing or what you need. Keep contact with them.

27. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
And. May 29, 2010 2:57 AM (in response to Ralph Eisenberg)We are Ralph but BridgeQE addressed his invitation to send logfiles both to Mac and Windows users (see #16). So the chance that both systems are affected by the same problem seems to be realistic.
Question to the Adobe team: Should Windows users leave this thread and open a new discussion in the Windows section of the forum? Thanks

28. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
michaelswyatt May 30, 2010 1:40 PM (in response to And.)I look forward to hearing the final resolution on this issue. A bit frustrating that the installer just states that the update failed but did not identify the issue (yes error handling is painful, timeconsuming and impossible to account for every variation.) Given the number of people with issues, I trust the issue will be resolved soon.

29. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
Ralph Eisenberg May 31, 2010 2:47 AM (in response to michaelswyatt)Apparently, the issues related to the update installation and the problems inherent to the update itself will be addressed in a subsequent update later this week. Irrespective of the outcome, I should like to acknowledge the thoughtfulness and helpfulness of the members of the Adobe team with which I've had contact.

30. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
tnw2933 May 31, 2010 7:33 PM (in response to Ralph Eisenberg)I have the CS5 Production Premium Suite installed on both my 3.1 Mac Pro and my Late 2008 Macbook Pro. Both the Premiere and the Bridge updates installed with no problems on my Mac Pro, but I experienced the same Failed installation with the Bridge 4.01 update reported by others. As has been posted above, I was able to solve the problem by reinstalling Photoshop CS5. Once that reinstallation had been completed, I was able to update Bridge to 4.01 without problems. The only difference between these two Macs is that I had run CleanApp on the Macbook Pro to remove the unneeded languages and save disk space. Apparently this causes the failed installation of the Bridge 4.01 update.
I appreciate the help of those on this thread who reported the solution to this problem.

MisterSpok Jun 2, 2010 12:00 AM (in response to Ralph Eisenberg)I've the same Problem on my Mac with the german Version. Today an Update of Photoshop was in the AAM, and this update was installed correctly. Please fix the problem or help us to fix it.

33. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
Omke Oudeman Jun 2, 2010 2:46 AM (in response to MisterSpok)What do you mean to fix? you say it installed correctly??
The updater does it's job when having a correct install for PS and Bridge in default application folder on root level. When you change things the updater will probably not recognize it and won't function. The updater does now function for me.

if that's true, can you please send us the log files we can have a look at it.(wxin@adobe.com)
please not zip it into a file with extension name is "zip".
thanks!

36. Re: Bridge CS5 v 4.01 Update fails to install
macz5024 Aug 10, 2010 3:08 AM (in response to BridgeQE)Hi
Very curious - but maybe helpful for some other guys among you. I have desperately been waiting for an update to the update application for CS5 and never got an answer from support... So I investigated my log files on my own. I saw that there was a problem creating a folder Applications/Adobe - so I had a look there - and there was a file called "Adobe" sitting there from an old CS-trial .... - this file did not allow the creation of the Adobe folder. Removing it did not harm anything - but made updates work - finally....
