Index Mouse Over too Large

I recently inherited a Robohelp 7 HTML Project and they have brought to me an issue with the index page. When one mouse over the About in the index page the mouse over result are too large and it clips off the edge of the screen.

The screenshot of the issue shows the entire list, only because the resolution is different on the test machines.

<a target='_blank' href='http://img839.imageshack.us/i/indexexample.gif/'><img src='http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/4884/indexexample.th.gif' border='0'/></a>

Being a new user I am unsure as to how this mouse over is generated or how I can reduce its size or make it scrollable or something. There are about 200 or so individual help pages created and none of them are in any structure, just all i the project folder. The ToC was also manually created.

Any advise or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Your screenshots are not showing properly. Can you add new screenshots using the camera icon?

Sorry I was trying multiple thigns and it locked me out from posting. Hopefully the image shows up now. I had to cover up soem content in the image, so the large grey area is okay, there is actually stuff there.

Hi,

That's a lot of hits on one index keyword. You may want to use a multi level index. That way, you make your index more accessable. When there are less topics associated with a keyword, the index will no longer clip. (I assume you have lots of topics with the same keywords. If not, it's some kind of bug...)

If reorganizing the index is not possible, you may want to 'add an extra scroll options' to the index. I'll have to look into that to get it to work, so it may take some time.

Willam

Thanks. It is only that one Keyword that has that monstrous list. The keyword is about and there are quite a few topics with the keyword about in their title, around 50 or so.

I would now venture a guess that I would have to rename the topic to get that list to shrink, unless a scroll option is available.

I can think I can come up with a scroll function, but that's only a patch. The real problem, a monstruous list will remain. You'll probably have the best usability if you add multilevel keywords or remove the index entry alltogether. When about a quarter of your topics share the same index keyword, I think the index keyword is redundant and can be easily deleted.

Unfortunately I inherited the project, so I would be unable to delete the About index item. I have also found a number of other index items that return the large mouse over content as well.

Since I inherited the project making any structural changes like removing or even doing the multi level would have to be approved but the scroll bar would not, so I would love to try out that option if at all possible.

When you look at the first "About..." entry in the Index Designer, what do you see in the pane below, titled "Topics for:"?

[Also, please provide your RH version and what output you're generating.]

Good luck,

Leon
