John Joslin Aug 11, 2010 2:44 AM (in response to nina1234567)You can change it in Edit > Preferences > Transparency and Gamut > Grid Size

nina1234567 Aug 11, 2010 3:02 AM (in response to John Joslin)Hi Josh,
That doesn't fix it! This will only make the grid "in general" smaller or bigger, but as you can see in my screenshots:
Both screenshots are zoomed to the size of 3200%!!Greetz,

John Joslin Aug 11, 2010 3:28 AM (in response to nina1234567)It changes the size of the checkerboard – there is even a preview.
If that doesn't help, I can't think of anything else.
I don't spend much time with empty layers zoomed to 3200% so it doesn't bother me.

nina1234567 Aug 11, 2010 3:48 AM (in response to John Joslin)Yes - that's what I meant with "grid": the checkerboard!
Well, and as you can see, the checkerboard in CS5 zooms too if you want to get closer, while the size of the checkerboard in CS4 remains!
And I of course checked the preferences before but I couldn't find any way to disable this "zooming with zoom".

Zeno Bokor Aug 11, 2010 5:32 AM (in response to nina1234567)It might be video card related, try disabling OpenGL Drawing from Edit->Preferences->Performance

nina1234567 Aug 11, 2010 5:47 AM (in response to Zeno Bokor)Hi Zeno,
I have to admit: it works! You are absolutely right: because although there is OpenGL already in my CS4, I never enabled it.
But now I would like to use the OpenGL: I cannot use any of the cool new CS5 stuff like "point-zooming" with the magnifier-icon, smooth panning, etc. if I disable the function.
So we now know that it is up to the OpenGL mode. Does anyone now know how I can have BOTH: OpenGL AND the checkboard "un-zoomed"?
Thanks,
nina

But don't rely on Windows Device Manager – go to the manufacturer's web site and check. -

MTSTUNER Aug 11, 2010 9:09 PM (in response to nina1234567)In the cs5 Preferences>Performance>Open GL Drawing>Advanced settings,
try normal or advanced instead of basic.

It's an OpenGL programming issue, plain and simple. The scaling for the image texture is being applied to the checkerboard texture.Clearly they're taking a different approach with Normal mode than Basic.
I've just dealt with exactly the same issue in my own code recently.
