1. Re: Slow mouse/tablet response
Noel Carboni Aug 8, 2010 9:31 AM (in response to pvamic41)NICE system!
This is reported time and again, and the most likely solution seems to be:
1. Completely remove the Wacom tablet drivers.
2. Possibly use a tool like Driver Sweeper to ensure all traces of the driver software is gone.
3. Get the very latest drivers from Wacom (some folks have had success with older Vista drivers as well).
4. Install them.
Search for the words in your title and look at the threads from the past couple of months. The ones that end happy have often done what I've described above.
Best of luck.

pvamic41 Aug 8, 2010 9:40 AM (in response to pvamic41)Thanks Noel.
But why would my regular wireless mouse (non wacom) also exhibit delayed response ? LR3 works fine and every other program I use the Wacom tablet works great. I am having issues with the wacom tablet and I have reinstalled the driver three times now but it did not start to slow down until this week. I will try system restore. Thanks !

3. Re: Slow mouse/tablet response
Noel Carboni Aug 8, 2010 9:49 AM (in response to pvamic41)I don't have a tablet myself; I was just summarizing the many, many threads on the subject in which people reported the problem, then reported it solved by doing what I mentioned. Others have reported the slowness with devices other than the tablet too.
System restore is a good possibility if it was working. Windows 7 System Restore is very good.
Computers are complex things that require a whole host of data to be right to work perfectly. It's often difficult to discover why something that was working well once no longer works properly, but since the problem you report is also being reported by others, there's a good chance the tablet manufacturer has addressed it in recent software updates. Thus it's never a bad idea to check for updated drivers.
In short: Don't rule things out that don't "sound" right.
I have a friend who's absolutely convinced his system is no longer able to keep up with the latest Photoshop and Lightroom, when in fact CS5 seems no less efficient than its predecessors on a system not experiencing these specific problems. Up to now I haven't been able to convince him that some of us run this software even on systems from years ago, and it responds quite instantaneously.
Hang in there. It can be made to work, then I'm sure on that system you have it will be a real joy to use.

dec9 Aug 8, 2010 11:16 AM (in response to pvamic41)This site is very useful for troubleshooting wireless mice in Windows 7. As you will see low battery power for the mouse is a common problem with Windows 7. You wrote after a period of time so maybe your mouse batteries need changing. Here is the link.

5. Re: Slow mouse/tablet response
pvamic41 Aug 8, 2010 12:22 PM (in response to pvamic41)I tried the reinstall Wacom driver, that did not help. I did a system restore back to end of July and it now works great. Just wish I knew what the problem was. I will more diligent when installing programs - always check CS5 performance after install. Thanks everyone.

Noel Carboni Aug 8, 2010 1:33 PM (in response to pvamic41)Glad to hear you were able to get it working again.
Please try to remember to post back here if you ever determine what invokes "slow mode". I'm sure a lot of folks with similar problems will be very interested in the root cause.

pvamic41 Aug 13, 2010 5:37 AM (in response to pvamic41)I found what program was causing sluggish response. For me it was Microsoft Security Essentials. If I uncheck the "monitor file and program activity on your computer" in the settings tab performance is normal. If I turn it on its back to the 2-3 second lag. Hope this points people with this problem in the right direction.
