Ann Bens Jul 29, 2010 1:11 PM (in response to Stanley Arthur)Very weird. The only 'odd' thing i see is for Location in Encore is set to: V:...
if that is a external drive? If so try to set it to all tp an internal drive.
Also you could try to do it the other way around from Encore":
File/Adobe Dynamic Link/Import Premiere Pro Sequence.

3. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
Stanley Arthur Jul 29, 2010 2:01 PM (in response to Ann Bens)"V" is an internal SATA drive.
I have tried it all ways. Encore cannot import a video clip as an asset.

4. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
Ann Bens Jul 29, 2010 2:34 PM (in response to Stanley Arthur)All kind of clips or just this particular one.
What kind of clip is it, what codec?

5. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
Bill Hunt Jul 29, 2010 6:36 PM (in response to Stanley Arthur)Per Ann's question above, Encore has limitations on the file types/CODEC's that it will Import. Some work fine, but others just flat will not. What are the types/CODEC's in this case?
Good luck,
Hunt

6. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
Stanley Arthur Jul 30, 2010 11:14 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Again, I have been using Encore since 1.0., I am a highly experienced DVD guy. Not a beginner here. I have successfully used .mov, .avi, .wmv, .mpeg-1, mpeg-2, .m2v. More often than not, over the years, I have used the Matrox Mpeg-2 I-Frame HD or SD codec with no issues.
The problem is NOT with the media. In fact, it's worse than I thought. If I start Encore, start and name a new project, then sit back for about a minute, Encore crashes. The program's very first action after starting a new project is "Preparing Transcode Settings". It crashes during this process with this error screen:
Runtime Error!
R6025
-pure virtual function call
I uninstalled and reinstalled Encore. Same thing. Encore CS5, on a BRAND new HP Z800, with a FRESH install of Windows 7 Ultimate with NOTHING else on the machine.

7. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
Bill Hunt Jul 30, 2010 11:21 AM (in response to Stanley Arthur)This Adobe KB Article might shed some light on the RunTime Error. Sounds like you have more than one thing going on there.
Now, I am not implying that you are a newbie, but then I would also have expected more info. It's very tough to remotely troubleshoot issues, when we have to guess, or fill in the blanks ourselves.
Good luck,
Hunt

8. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
tamarin_ent Jul 30, 2010 1:15 PM (in response to Stanley Arthur)I'm experience the exact same issue. I'm also working on an HP Z800 with a clean install of windows 7. Everything had been working correctly for about two weeks until just two days ago. I have uninstalled and reinstalled CS5 and tried creating a new user account too. No luck. Next step may be a clean install of windows, but trying to avoid this if possible. Any help would be appreciated... thanks!

John T Smith Jul 30, 2010 1:33 PM (in response to tamarin_ent)Ok... that is two HP Z800 computers with a problem
That being the common connection, are all motherboard drivers up to date... including the BIOS?

10. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
Ann Bens Jul 30, 2010 3:17 PM (in response to Stanley Arthur)Install the suite/program as Administrator.
I use but one account on my machine: Administrator.

11. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
tamarin_ent Jul 30, 2010 4:52 PM (in response to Ann Bens)There is just one administrator user on my computer. I tried creating a new user to see if encore would import under that user but wound up with the same result. So, I deleted the temporary user and I'm back to just one user on the system. Still no luck. I'll continue to experiment...

12. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
Stanley Arthur Jul 31, 2010 4:34 AM (in response to tamarin_ent)I spent a good bit of time yesterday on the phone with an Adobe tech. The R6025 error is most commonly related to sound card drivers, which is probably the only driver I had not updated. I did, but it didn't make a difference. Everything else is up to date. He wanted me to completely uninstall CS5 and create a new local user not attached to the University's domain, reinstall CS5 and try again. My first opportunity to do that will be August 10, as I start a documentary filming trip tomorrow. Hope this gets resolved before then.

13. Re: Unable to import clips as assets
Allen18 Aug 14, 2010 11:33 PM (in response to Stanley Arthur)I have the same problem with a new install of CS5 - on a Sony Laptop with System 7.
The only common thread is that I am also using a Matrox Mini- I have the most recent version
of Matrox utilities. I will check my sound card drivers.
Everything worked (fairly) well under CS4 - at least I could burn DVD's. May go back to CS4.

14. Re: Unable to import clips as assets = Workaround
Allen18 Aug 15, 2010 3:39 PM (in response to Stanley Arthur)I did find a work-around. It may be related to Windows 7 security, which seems to not give
you full Administrator rights even though you are an Administrator. After a frustrating few
hours struggling, I tried running Encore (right click) as Administrator (my account is an Administrator)
and I was able to import a timeline from Premiere and burn a DVD.
Hopefully others will have more information, as this can really stop your work!

Stanley Arthur Aug 22, 2010 4:58 PM (in response to Stanley Arthur)This problem was solved for me by logging in as local administrator, not attached to the university's domain.
