1. Re: How do I edit text that has been made into an animation symbol?
Michel Bozgounov Aug 16, 2010 1:24 AM (in response to scooterluv)Try isolating the line of text you are trying to edit. For example, turn other layers off in the LAYERS panel (temporarily), then edit your text block, then turn them on again -- that's what I'd do!

2. Re: How do I edit text that has been made into an animation symbol?
scooterluv Aug 16, 2010 6:30 AM (in response to Michel Bozgounov)Thanks Michel,
I tried it with just one layer visible and even tried locking all the other
layers but they all still become visible when I double click on it to attempt to
edit the text. I can edit the text if I pull the text out of the way but I still
see the other layers of text and its difficult to see what it is I need to edit.
I can send you the file if you'd care to try a hand at it.
Thanks for responding.

3. Re: How do I edit text that has been made into an animation symbol?
Michel Bozgounov Aug 16, 2010 6:39 AM (in response to scooterluv)You may also try to lock the other layers, that should work too.
If possible, you can also attach the .fw.png file here (to your next post), explain exactly which block of text in what Symbol gives you trouble, and one of us Fireworks gurus can perhaps take a quick look at it. Thanks!

4. Re: How do I edit text that has been made into an animation symbol?
scooterluv Aug 17, 2010 8:29 AM (in response to Michel Bozgounov)OK, here is the FW file. I've tried hiding and locking the layers that I do not
want to appear when I attempt to edit a layer but when I double click the text
all the text from the layers appears and I have to move the desired layer out of
the way a bit to try to edit it. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong. Even my
supervisor can't figure this one out.
Thanks!

pixlor Aug 18, 2010 6:34 PM (in response to scooterluv)Are you, perhaps, replying to posts via email? If so, then you can't insert an image into a post with an email attachment.
To include a file in a post, you need to go to the forum and use the Insert Image control (camera icon).

9. Re: How do I edit text that has been made into an animation symbol?
Linda Nicholls Aug 19, 2010 9:40 AM (in response to scooterluv)Double click on the symbol you want to edit in the document library. Choose Edit in the convert to symbol dialog box. The construction of your animation seems much more complex than it needs to be.

10. Re: How do I edit text that has been made into an animation symbol?
Michel Bozgounov Aug 19, 2010 9:45 AM (in response to scooterluv)It's very interesting -- there's some bug in the file -- even if some layers are not visible, when I double-click the text layer you are supposed to edit (the Symbol), other layers with text start to appear...
Not sure what's causing this. I would suggest to log a bug here:
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
...explain the steps and attache the PNG.
And if you break the Symbol apart (select it > Modify > Symbol > Break apart) and then try to edit the text, all works normally as expected. Use this as a workaround -- I don't have a better suggestion for now...
I have made the tests with Fw CS5...
