adding space in equations

I know this must be obvious but I cannot figure out how to add a space in FM's equation editor. I know how to do it in LaTeX. What I want to do is an equation like:

Mortality Rate = exp (R) / k*exp (1+R)

I can use MortalityRate but if I put in a real space, it adds a question mark.

Thanks.

IsleofGough,

Have you started the string with quotes? This puts the equation editor in text mode. See here:
