LC 8 form filled in Acrobat 7: text fields blank when form is saved

I have created a form using LiveCycle 8.0, which is usually filled out by others using Acrobat Pro 7.0.  When they save the form under a new name and then reopen it, all the text fields are empty but the selections in the drop-down lists are intact.  Other forms I have created don't have this issue.

I have set the form properties to automatically preserve scripting changes when saved, however I have noted that this selection is not available in LiveCycle version 7.  Therefore is this an issue than can only be corrected by the users filling the form in a newer version of Acrobat?

Any ideas?

In version 7 that option did not exist ....so you have to write code in your form to maintain the state of the form.
