    cs5 brush cursor

    mybrotherbob Community Member

when using the brush tool in cs5 the cursor is visible in the shadow and highlight areas but as soon as you move to a mid tone

it blends into the background. If i drag the cursor from a shadow region it remains visable in the mid tones but as soon a i lift the pen of the tablet it merges with the bg again

can anyone help with a fix

      system spec is

         MacPro4,1
          Quad-Core Intel Xeon
        Processor Speed:    2.26 GHz

        Memory:    12 GB

      NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285

As far as I know there is no direct fix. Adobe has agreed that the implementation is far from perfect.

It is also a problem drawing paths with the pen under some circumstances.

I briefly press the spacebar to get the hand if the cursor is totally lost, and otherwise temporarily add an adjustment layer to darken or lighten the image as required.

That's a limitation of OpenGL and the Quartz graphics system on MacOS.

We could do better under the old QuickDraw system, but that is deprecated and not avaiable for 64 bit apps.

We're still trying to find a better way to blend the cursors to get contrast over all colors, but so far haven't come up with one that works.

ok chris, thanks for the info.

i do intensive skin clean ups all day and this is slowing me down massively.

if you get a fix and need it tested email me steve@username.co.uk
