Ann Bens Aug 27, 2010 8:48 AM (in response to GESYMSB)Well that depends.
If you are making a DVD or BD you can leave it interlaced.
All other like web or Youtube you need to deinterlace.
Which export format are you planning on using?

Harm Millaard Aug 27, 2010 1:38 PM (in response to GESYMSB)1. It is in general a very bad idea to deinterlace interlaced material, because you throw away 50% of the vertical resolution, leaving you with less than VHS resolution.
2. It is impossible to judge quality on the preview monitor. Use a properly calibrated professional monitor for that purpose.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE !!!!!
I had the same problem a while back, playing an mpeg 2 dvd on my computer in various media players and the video looked HORRIBLE ! Finally ( probably Harm ...but someone here at least ) Told me about this problem and I thought to myself, "HA, THAT CANT BE SUCH A HUGE DIFFERENCE ( doubting anything so bad could look OK once I burned the DVD ) ---
Putting my doubts aside I did burn the DVD , stuck it in the TV DVD player and WOW...it looked GREAT !...
True !

Ann Bens Aug 28, 2010 6:47 AM (in response to GESYMSB)It is better to use a original screendump then using one from this site:
And yes it does matter what you are make and what your source files are.
