1. Re: In what senario would you use Bridge over LR?
john beardsworth Sep 1, 2010 2:12 PM (in response to dpick2)Since all my pictures are recorded in Lightroom, I'm only using Bridge when I want to:
- browse a folder containing file types that Lightroom fails to import
- examine and possibly change metadata written by other programs
In other words, there aren't many circumstances.

Gene McCullagh Sep 1, 2010 2:13 PM (in response to dpick2)Hi dpick2!
Bridge becomes useful when you are doing a project that involves more than one of the Creative Suite applications. For example if I have images from Photoshop or LR, graphics from Illustrator and I'm designing an InDesign document using these assets, then Bridge is the best place to, pardon the pun, bridge these assets and apps together.
Now, if you are totally within the photography realm then I don't see a need to go beyond LR to mamage your images.

dpick2 Sep 1, 2010 2:29 PM (in response to dpick2)Thanks for the replies, gentlemen. This is what I thought--if I'm mostly processing raw/.dng files, LR does everything I need. I just didn't know if the latest revisions added something I might be missing.

john beardsworth Sep 1, 2010 2:26 PM (in response to Gene McCullagh)For the purposes Gene mentions, I mostly use Expression Media (iView) instead. Certainly for my photography, Bridge is very marginalised.

Butch_M Sep 1, 2010 2:29 PM (in response to dpick2)Like Gene, I use Bridge when working with InDesign and other apps. Keep in mind LR has no way of knowing what changes you make outside of LR. If you make development adjustments using Bridge/ACR ... you need to update the images in LR by selecting the images in question and "Read metadata from files" ... however you don't want to ever change file/folder locations or rename files using Bridge ... this will cause considerable problems to keep your LR catalog in order ... those changes should only be made within LR to keep everything running smoothly ....
