Harm Millaard Aug 26, 2010 5:09 AM (in response to Powered by Design)Glenn,
From the announcements I have seen it looks like a great motherboard, especially if you make it a habit to do your editing in the Arctic, a tropical rain forrest or other extreme conditions.
Keep in mind that the next generation, like in CSNext, is underway. The new X68 motherboards with the Patsburg octo core and 8 DIMM slots (for 32 GB of DDR4-3200 or faster memory) and lots of SATA 600 ports are expected in about a year or slightly more, to coincide with CS6 or CSNext. That outlook keeps me from getting a 980X now.

Powered by Design Aug 26, 2010 2:19 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)X68 oh no. Now something other to wait for. lol
Since I broke down a got a new system to replace my XP I might be able to wait for it.
I like the idea of 8 slots with faster ram.
The brown on this motherboard reminds me of the Noctua cooler.
Thanks for the heads up on the X68.
I will have to do some googleing or if you have good links please post.

lmcwilli Sep 9, 2010 8:05 AM (in response to Powered by Design)I'd be interested in comments comparing the ASUS P6X58D Premium to the Sabertooth X58---Particularly as a CS5 editing platform.

Studio North Films Sep 9, 2010 1:18 PM (in response to lmcwilli)hi, most asus boards will perform very similar, it is all down to the parts you use with the boards. that will make a difference.
