1. Re: Premiere hanging on startup during loading of importerRed.pm
rowby Sep 12, 2010 10:47 AM (in response to rowby)Interesting, when I try to load Media Encoder it also hangs on ImporterRed.pm.
In which folder should ImporterRed.pm be located.

K.F. Wright Sep 13, 2010 3:55 PM (in response to rowby)I've been having tons of problems with the importerRed ever since installing Premiere CS5.0.2 and I never had problems before. Not only that, but my RED projects open way slower, I have to reconnect lots of media, and it runs choppier. While I thought that the initial opening of the project may have run slow due to conforming the R3D files, after that was done I saved, exited, and restarted the project. Still takes 3-4x as long to open and get the media online. Fortunately, I made an image my hard drive before installing, so I restored to the pre-5.0.2 disc image and everything runs great again. No RED importer crashes, all media is connected, projects open quickly, and playback is smooth again. I'm not impressed at all with this update.

Wil Renczes Sep 13, 2010 9:19 PM (in response to K.F. Wright)Did you install the RED plugin from the Adobe Labs? This is probably messing with the 5.0.2 update's version of the RED plugins. You should remove the Adobe Labs version then try the 5.0.2 again.
If you haven't red (okay, bad pun) up on it, you're missing out, as the 5.0.2 version of the RED plugins has support for RMD files from RED Cine. This means you can grade shots in Cine, then apply the look files in PPro.

Todd_Kopriva Sep 13, 2010 11:02 PM (in response to Wil Renczes)There's more information about the RED features in the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update here.

K.F. Wright Sep 14, 2010 1:45 PM (in response to Wil Renczes)I will try removing the currently installed RED importer plugin and then run the update. I had assumed that the old RED importer that I got from Adobe labs would be overwritten with the new one that comes packaged in with the 5.0.2 update. The Redcine-X sideloader sounds pretty cool.

ed.pm in Premiere and Encoder. Has anyone had success with a fix? Please describe.

7. Re: Premiere hanging on startup during loading of importerRed.pm
rowby Sep 19, 2010 6:02 PM (in response to hatcan7)Maybe there's an easier fix, but I finally uninstalled CS5 entirely. Every program.
Then I rebooted.
Then I ran
CS5 Cleaner Tool see:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/829/cpsid_82947.html
Then I rebooted (rebotting probably not necessary, but it just takes a second!)
Then I completely reinstalled CS5
Again, maybe there's an easier fix, but that worked for me.

hatcan7 Sep 20, 2010 6:09 PM (in response to rowby)I am very much a beginner at the processes of debugging and am continuously questioning the different paths to resolve problems.
1. "Only if you have Microsoft Installer Clean Up Utility" already installed can you proceed to step 4." The tool was downloaded in zip form on another computer and copied to my computer with CS5. It sits on the desktop, when I unzip I just don't know the next step to install it.
2. My PPCS5 version was downloaded from Adobe website, activation was a problem. I updated, crashed, reset computer and now I have version 5.0.1. I'm downloading CS5 from adobe, is that what you did? I have the disc set but it would not load. Did you update again with success or fore go the problem by not updating?
I'm sweating the details but don't want to waste time making things worst. Thanks bunch.

Takyc Jul 11, 2011 11:13 AM (in response to hatcan7)I searched for the importerRed.prm in the harddrive under Premiere CS5 folder, just rename the file to something else. Now Premiere starts. ahhhhhhhhhhh
