dragsternj Sep 14, 2010 11:01 AM (in response to Hobotor)Thanks, but doesn't do anything. Also noticed that the i can get the marquee back after it is gone by clicking on the marquee tool icon in the toolbar. Also the walking ants are not not moving anymore.
Thanks

Chris Cox Sep 14, 2010 11:07 AM (in response to dragsternj)You may need to update your video card driver, or disable OpenGL drawing in Photoshop preferences.

5. Re: Photoshop CS5 Marquee Border gone
dragsternj Sep 14, 2010 12:56 PM (in response to dragsternj)I removed Photoshop CS5 and installed older version. Marquee is fixed. Works with open GL enabled just fine. I assume there is a glitch in one of the newer updates

6. Re: Photoshop CS5 Marquee Border gone
Chris Cox Sep 14, 2010 1:35 PM (in response to dragsternj)No, more likely you have a video card specific bug, or a system specific issue outside of Photoshop (otherwise many more people would be reporting the same problem, and they're not).

7. Re: Photoshop CS5 Marquee Border gone
ojibweguy Feb 15, 2011 2:16 AM (in response to dragsternj)I am getting the same annoying problem, when I run PS CS5 on my windows 7 I make a selection with the selection tool and it shows on-screen while i'm making the selection but once i'm done it disappears and only shows up when I do something like zoom in or out on the image. It does this for any update I make to an image, it won't show any updates until i move the image in some way. zooming in or out usually does it but i'm getting fed up and frustrated having to do this everytime. I have not had any problems with any of the other photoshops in the past as my laptop seems to be quiet capable of handling the system load CS5 needs.
Any fixes? Anyone else experiencing this?

Noel Carboni Feb 15, 2011 1:37 PM (in response to ojibweguy)Have you tried the things suggested up above in this very thread? You haven't said anything about that.
Laptops notoriously don't see as many good video driver updates as desktops, but who knows, you could get lucky. What video interface does your laptop have?

ojibweguy Feb 15, 2011 4:30 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)I've tried a few, my laptop is a sony vaio with mobile intel GM965
Express Chipset. Like I said it worked fine with CS4 and CS3 but the
instant I install CS5 I have this problem right away. I'm hoping it
isn't something to do with a plug in, I'll most likely reinstall and see
if the problem exists without any plugins installed. I don't want to go
back to CS4 but I will if there's no available solution.

Just turn off OpenGL rendering - that chipset is underpowered.

WahyuSetiawan Jul 20, 2011 7:49 AM (in response to dragsternj)i've some problems like this..
on photoshop cs5, marquee (selection) gone at beginning, and "show up" if zooming or "clicking" other space..
trying turn on-off openGL, update video card driver, update latest photoshop update, windows update.. etc..
the problem still up..
.
then..
in my case, that's because third party plugin i've installed (nik software-color effect)try uninstalled them (other third party plugin).. and now back in normal again..
find update for them (the third party plugin) then try install it again..
*sorry for my bad english...
