1. Re: Colour grading on PC. What options besides Colorista2?
jonhand Sep 15, 2010 5:25 AM (in response to Tayedrummer)Color Finesse is the way to go. Expensive (for Premiere Pro) but worth every penny. Finesse is the best.

Colin Brougham Sep 15, 2010 5:30 AM (in response to Tayedrummer)It's funny that you posted this; I was just about to ask a similar question.
I got the Digital Juice newsletter yesterday, and they have the Boris Continuum 3 Way Color Grade Unit for $50 right now. This is a plug-in that works in PPro and AE CS5 natively. I'm not too schooled in more advanced color correction techinques, but the demo I downloaded seems pretty robust. It's got keying, masking, and motion trackers built into the effect and seems to have all the bells and whistles one could want. For the price, it seems like a viable option, but obviously, functionality is more important when it comes to a tool like this. I'd be curious to hear your take on it, and anyone else that uses the Boris CC.
Hope that... helps?

3. Re: Colour grading on PC. What options besides Colorista2?
Tayedrummer Sep 15, 2010 4:47 PM (in response to jonhand)Wow! Thanks Jonhand. Colour Finesse looks like something I'll want to try out. The interface is kinda wonky but support for the Tangent Wave control surface is exciting. What is really impressive is the 3D LUT export...my real job is as a DP and the Arri Alexa is soon to support importing LUT's for monitoring...LUT's that Finesse can create.
I'm going to try and get a refund for Colourista2 since, in my opinion, their marketing is deliberately deceptive in showing the product working in After Effects and claiming that it is compatible with Premiere. That refund will pay for most of Finesse.

Tayedrummer Sep 18, 2010 3:30 AM (in response to Tayedrummer)Jonhand, do you know if Color Finesse has secondary power windows? I haven't had the time to download he demo yet but in reading the online literature I can't find any mention of power windowing.

Harm Millaard Sep 18, 2010 7:21 AM (in response to Tayedrummer)Color Finesse has secondary color correction and if you upgrade the version included with AE to the PE version, it also works as a plug-in for PR.
