    Rumors of my demise...

      Hey, guys.

Been burning the candle at both ends lately (a great way to get a reputation for being a drip, I might add) and haven't had much time to hang out with friends. My company's launching a number of new marketing services for small business and thus I've been in the middle of a web site overhaul, new product definitions, marketing plans to market my marketing services (is that circular logic?), yada, yada. Probably be like this for another few weeks, but thought I'd drop in and see what sort of mischief everyone's getting into.

By the way, I saw a reference (I think in Ad Age, can't remember) to one of these web based shows that the guy liked called The Guild. Took some time to watch a few of the episodes (5 minutes each) and it's interesting to watch the quality of the production progress through the seasons. Seems like there's a ton of that sort of thing being produced, suspect I'll spend more time checking it out when things settle down.

With everyone getting into the TV business now (Google, Apple, etc.) it really feels like we're perched on the edge of a new reality. Traditional media getting more comfortable with streaming, lots of people producing shows that go straight to the web and bypassing the networks, etc. Interesting times, and I mean that in a good way.

Are any of you involved in the "produced for web" sort of stuff? I don't think the million dollar studios and networks are going away, but it sure seems like this represents a new player in town.

      .

Well, so much for the break. Back to work!
