1. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
Curt Y Jun 30, 2010 4:56 PM (in response to MikeV99)Disable autoload on start up in the advanced preferences (best option). Or else close Bridge before you shut offf computer. Otherwise none of the changes you make will be remembered.

2. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
MikeV99 Jun 30, 2010 5:07 PM (in response to Curt Y)Thank you for your response.
I do not have Preferences/Advanced/Start Bridge at Login enabled (never have). I always exit bridge before I logoff (I do not shut off the computer, it runs 24/7).
Everytime I start Bridge and I have to redo the dual monitor setup. I.e., Windows/Open New Synchronized Window always opens a duplicate of the existing window which has to be moved to monitor 2 and the panels selected.

4. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
MikeV99 Jun 30, 2010 7:56 PM (in response to Curt Y)Unfortunately, saving the workspace was one of the first things I tried (even using different workspace names on each window).

5. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
Curt Y Jul 1, 2010 6:39 AM (in response to MikeV99)Did it work the correct way in CS3 or 4?
If it did you may want to submit a bug report. There are still a lot of bug to work out with CS5.
If you find a solution let us know. I will be switching to CS5 next week.

6. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
MikeV99 Jul 1, 2010 7:16 AM (in response to Curt Y)I did not do dual monitors with CS3 and do not remember having problems withCS4. However, I started using dual monitors just before I upgraded to CS5. Unfortunately, I removed CS4 from my system yesterday and should have tested the issue before it was removed (arg...).
It may be worth submitting a bug report just to see what will be the response. I wanted to post here first in case someone else was using CS5 with dual monitors and reads the forums.
Thanks

7. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
Curt Y Jul 1, 2010 7:38 AM (in response to MikeV99)Check out this article on setting up dual monitors. Is this way you are doing?
It is written for CS3, but should be similar for CS5.

8. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
MikeV99 Jul 1, 2010 8:03 AM (in response to Curt Y)Yes.
Window > New Synchronized Window
With the new window on top, choose the Window menu, remove all Panels except the Preview window
Move Content panel over so it is no longer visible and only Preview window is visible
(Click on thumbnail on monitor 1 and it is shown in Preview mode in Window 2 -- great, just what I want)
At this point, the Bridge workspace on both monitors is "Mike's Workspace"
I can save the Monitor 2 workspace to Mike's Dual Workspace.
Close Bridge on Monitor 2
Close Bridge on Monitor 1
Restart Bridge
Monitor 1 opens as Mike's Dual Workspace, but it is the same as Mike's Workspace
Change workspace on Monitor 1 to Mike's Workspace - it has the correct configuration.
Window > New Synchronized Window and start the configuration as before.
Am I missing something?

9. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
mcplaza Jul 8, 2010 11:41 PM (in response to MikeV99)I think I have your answer.
It took me sometime to learn this, but what you need to do is to exit Bridge using the File->Exit method.
If you close using the "X" close on the top right of the window it will assume the last window closed is the one it should open again.
Its weird I know, but it works for me.

10. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
MikeV99 Jul 9, 2010 6:10 AM (in response to mcplaza)Works for me as well. You can also right click the small icon in the right side of the task bar to exit and it will do the same thing.
Thanks for the tip.

12. Re: Save Dual Monitor Setup - Bridge CS5?
kevinthom Oct 5, 2010 1:29 PM (in response to mcplaza)Unfortunately, this does not work for me. I have the same problem as the original poster. I set up Bridge CS5 (v 4.0.3.9 on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate) with the dual monitor configuration I want. Then I go to File -> Exit. When I restart Bridge, it stacks both windows on monitor 1 and chooses a random workspace layout for each of them. I have to move them to their correct locations and set up the workspaces again. I really hope Adobe will do something about this annoying dual monitor bug, along with the one referenced in this thread:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/2878655
So many of us professionals are using dual monitors now. Adobe needs to address the issues with using its keystone software in this type of setup.
