Does SOLR have any limitations on the number of documents in a collection?

ColdFusion's implementation of Verity used to come with limitations on the number of documents that can be indexed in a collection. Are there similar limitations for SOLR? Can't find anything in the docs about it...but I hate to just assume stuff like this...

Hey Dave, how goes it? Hope all is well.

Thanks for the post. Yeah, I recall having read that before. My situation is that a client is considering upgrading and wants my recommendation. They're up against the Verity limit in their old version of CF and the solution I recommend MUST work.

I totally trust Ray's research on the one hand, but I was hoping to avoid being the guy who is stuck saying, "Well, I could have sworn there was no limitation cause I read it on this other guy's blog." I was hoping someone knew of something a bit more official, like a reference on Adobe's site somewhere. I couldn't find it...may just have to take Ray's word for it (lord knows, I've taken his word on plenty of other subjects, LOL)!

I don't think you'll find much on the Adobe site for Solr, but since it's an open-source product you can reference the Solr documentation and wiki. But if they're really working with that many documents, they might want to consider an enterprise-class search solution like the Google Search Appliance:

I work with that a lot, and think it's a much better solution than Solr or Verity for a variety of reasons. It isn't cheap, but it's a good dedicated solution and it can easily be integrated with CF applications.

This company isn't going to spend the dough on the Google solution so that's out. I think they'll have to stick with SOLR. Thanks for your help!
