1. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
Sergey Kritskiy May 15, 2010 9:35 PM (in response to matedobray)That beep appears after opening/closing of every Extension Panel and, sometimes, after giving the mouse focus to Panel. Then this beep will sound while you hold Space AND using Actions with F*+CMD in shortcut. I constantly use two custom panels and binded actions so this beep annoys me very much as well Have to CMD+TAB to make the beep disappear.

4. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
matedobray May 24, 2010 7:18 AM (in response to matedobray)Could someone from Adobe please comment on this? I think this is a bug that can be reproduced by anyone at any time with the right (wrong) settings. Just do what I specified in the original post and tell me if it happens.
So far this happens every single time with the MiniBridge, and regularly, but not every single time with other collapsed palettes, such as Curves and Masks.
It's the sort of bug that annoys me a lot and adds to the "beta" feel of Photoshop, making me think "oh it's okay, it'll get fixed since it's just a pre-release version", but then I remember that it's actually the finished version.

5. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
SG... May 24, 2010 12:09 PM (in response to matedobray)Hi,
I don't think this is specific to MiniBridge or even Extension panels. I'm going to check and log a bug report for this so we can investigate. The system beep is annoying, but I have found a workaround.
Instead of using the spacebar for temp selection of the hand tool, try holding down the 'h' key instead. This was new to CS4 and provides an added 'Bird's eye view' when using OpenGL enabled windows. I realized the space bar functionality is long ingrained and hard to break, but this might help to alleviate the annoying beep.

steve

6. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
matedobray May 25, 2010 1:07 PM (in response to SG...)Hi and thanks for your help!
Pressing H is not a good solution for me, since if you press H for a short amount of time, it stays on the Hand tool and doesn't automatically switch back to the tool you were using. Also, when I'm doing very precise retouching, it's crucial that I can track exactly what pixel is moving where when I pan, so the bird's-eye view isn't always good, but thanks for the tip, I didn't know about that last feature there, it can come in handy!
It's probably indeed not specific to the MiniBridge, I have gotten the been a few times with other palettes too, however, only with the MiniBridge can I always get it to beep.
I have another workaround, I simply stopped using the MiniBridge and iconic palettes altogether, and I put the Adjustments panel in the same palette as Layers, so I switch tabs back and fourth between the two. Having the old modal dialog for adjustment layers from CS3 and before would still be the best for a "small" 15-inch screen, but that's another thread and another problem!

any news on this bug, anyone uncover any software conflicts that might be causing this? I hear a clicking when setup as above and using the spacebar/hand tool.
thanks

Tevashov Oct 18, 2010 3:22 AM (in response to matedobray)Just go to Mac 'System Preferences' - 'Sound', set the volume of the error beep to minimum and forget about it.

9. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
Sergey Kritskiy Oct 18, 2010 3:35 AM (in response to Tevashov)But that's still not a proper solution.
Actually a friend of mine who is developing PS panels said that Adobe confirmed this issue as a CS5 Mac bug and they're going to fix it (someday, as usual)
As for me, I'm just quickly cmd+tabbing when sound appears

Tevashov Oct 18, 2010 3:39 AM (in response to Sergey Kritskiy)Yes. But I have to cmd+tabbing almost every minute, so I preffer to turn the sound off untill this issue will be fixed.

- JM - Oct 18, 2010 4:47 AM (in response to Sergey Kritskiy)>But that's still not a proper solution.
we're not in a very good situation to know what or when Adobe will respond. We know that they are aware of many bugs but since history is all we have, CS4 had only 1 update before CS5 was released and we've already had that same first quarter update. So, without any more information I can only assume that the next fix will be after CS6 is released.
I know that Adobe can't discuss future plans...... but what Adobe can and can not do is up to them. So if Adobe wanted to announce an upcoming fix they could ( and they have in the past ). I can understand keeping new product releases under wraps, but this is just a fix for something that .... well..... we have already purchased.
>Just go to Mac 'System Preferences' - 'Sound', set the volume of the error beep to minimum and forget about it.
So, yes I have had the error sound set to "funk" and on very low for quite a while, which results in a low clicking sound.
Again, I feel like I need to repeat this, I like CS5, love PS, but some things can be better, and isn't that why we are all here. It just seems odd that you can purchase something today that has bugs but can't ask the vendor when it will be fixed?

12. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
Tevashov Oct 18, 2010 5:07 AM (in response to - JM -)Yes, that little bugs are annoying. It seems to me that similar interface problem happens when using Adobe Configurator, a tool for creating custom palettes for Photoshop. If your custom pallette is docked to another one, the buttons in your pallette requires two clicks to work. And what about incorrect behavior of shift+square brackets for the brushes in the Russian keyboard layout? PS changes the size, not the hardness? A lot of bugs and we can only hope to get updates shortly.

I use a custom panel, I just tried moving it around to other configurations with tabs, docking etc but I couldn't repeat that problem? It contains a variety of buttons, scripts etc. but they seem OK.

14. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
Tevashov Oct 18, 2010 5:27 AM (in response to - JM -)And I use a simple panel with seven buttons and got this problem. This is the main difficulty, I think: not all the users expirience the same problems, It depends on some factors, including frequency of using ane or another 'buggy' feature. There's not so many refers in Google to this topic subject, but there's many refers to problems with Luquify on 12.0.0.

15. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
Tevashov Oct 18, 2010 5:41 AM (in response to - JM -)And there's another one bug: after accessing some of the extensions (custom panels or mini bridge) pressing cmd+- do nothing. So, it's the problem with extensions: space key beeps, zoom out doesn't respond. Let's see what happens if I switch locale to English...

16. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
Tevashov Oct 18, 2010 6:32 AM (in response to - JM -)Here you are! With English as primary language on my system, docked custom palettes works well, cmd+- works always, but... yeah, baby, space bar still beeps! -))) So, with a pair of crutches it is possible to workaround some of the Adobe bugs. But why I should use another locale and turn the error beep off? Does this Extensions so good for me?

Sergey Kritskiy Mar 30, 2011 10:51 PM (in response to matedobray)It seems it disapeared after 12.0.2 update. I'm on Mac and I think I haven't heard these beeps after I updated a month ago.

I still have beeping with spacebar, but I've turned down the error beep and set it to a non-offensive sound so I don't notice it as much. So I'm still interested what occurred with the original bug report and if this report was closed.

10.6.7 / 12.0.2

22. Re: Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep
- JM - Apr 1, 2011 4:48 AM (in response to SG...)was this fixed in 12.0.2, if so I might have a new bug? it's just an annoyance nothing big.... if there are priority rankings to bug fixes, here's my wish list:
1. the placed smart object AI/PDF errant line problem
2. AOM script errors when any drive is connected with the name "users"
3. this silly beeping thing.
thanks
