1. Re: have keyframes in effect controls window coincide with main time line
Colin Brougham Oct 18, 2010 10:15 AM (in response to David Zeno)I'm not sure I'm following what you're asking for, but if I am, what you want to do is click the flyout menu (stack o' pancakes) in the Effects Control Panel, and deselect the Pin to Clip option. This will enable you to view the main sequence outside of the bounds of the current clip you're working on. I have this mapped to Ctrl+P on my keyboard, as I use this feature quite a bit when keyframing.
Is this what you're looking for?

2. Re: have keyframes in effect controls window coincide with main time line
JSS1138 Oct 18, 2010 11:32 AM (in response to Colin Brougham)I think he wants the CTI of the Effects pane to match the CTI of the sequence. If one moves, the other moves as well.
In CS4 this happens by default. Has that changed for CS5?

Nope.

David Zeno Oct 18, 2010 12:54 PM (in response to Colin Brougham)Hi Colin,
not what I was looking for, but it's neat to see other things that people do, thanks for that great tip !
Dave.

David Zeno Oct 18, 2010 12:55 PM (in response to JSS1138)Hi Jim,
that's what I mean, thanks for info. I guess this isn't a popular want from users, I just thought it would be neat if we could do this, it's not a big deal, but I thought
I would ask. Thanks for the informatiion - at least I know now.
Dave

6. Re: have keyframes in effect controls window coincide with main time line
Colin Brougham Oct 18, 2010 1:02 PM (in response to David Zeno)But this does work--so I'm confused...
If I drag/play in the ECP, the CTI moves in the Timeline panel. If I drag/play in the Timeline panel, the CTI moves in the ECP. I'm not aware of any setting to disable or enable that--it's hardwired.
Now, if you go beyond the bounds of the clip in the ECP (or you want to, for that matter), the CTI in the ECP will basically stop at the bounds of the clips. However, if you disable Pin to Clip and then drag the range view slider all the way to the left, you'll now be able to match the CTI position for the full duration of the sequence.
Of am I still missing the boat?

7. Re: have keyframes in effect controls window coincide with main time line
shooternz Oct 18, 2010 1:35 PM (in response to Colin Brougham)The CTI in the Sequence and the FX window timeline are synchronised in my system.
Which is really handy when using a scroll mouse. (One can scroll in the Program Monitor..frame by frame.)

8. Re: have keyframes in effect controls window coincide with main time line
Bill Hunt Oct 19, 2010 10:20 AM (in response to shooternz)With Keyframes placed, one can also use the Next/Previous Keyframe buttons in the Effects Control Panel, and both CTI's will go to that Next/Previous Keyframe.
Good luck,
Hunt
