hsbn Nov 1, 2010 1:00 PM (in response to MikieZZ)1920x1080 is 16:9 ratio, just set your crop tool to 16:9 ratio and set maxium length of one side on export is 1920.

This works unless the OP wants a 100% absolute crop. If that is the case then I would be interested in why it is required, other than to post on the web for pixel peeping purposes. For that purpose I am happy to export the original to photoshop and crop there.

5. Re: Precise Cropping
areohbee Nov 1, 2010 3:29 PM (in response to hillrg)To be honest (not that I ain't "always"), part of my desire for precise cropping instead of export resizing comes from a concern that the export resizing won't produce as good results as a precise crop.
Would you ever be able to see a difference in a
1936x1089 crop resized to 1920x1080, or even 1904x1071 -> 1920x1080, vs. a 1920x1080 precise-crop?
The other thing is that coarse cropping just feels clunky. I mean if there is a good reason why cropping is not precise, then I'd be happy to let it go. For example, video resizing is best done in chunk sizes that depend on the algorithm employed. Knowing that, I am happy to set resize parameters accordingly.
Is there something about the cropping / resizing in Lightroom that only works best with the clunky chunks?
People like me would just like to know why it is the way it is - if there are good reasons, then I'd happily go along with the program, if not - precise cropping would be better from a precise user viewpoint.
PS - IMO this feature pales in comparison to some of the other Develop Module improvements I'd like to see made, still if its not too much trouble...
