Steve Grisetti Oct 25, 2010 1:23 PM (in response to John T Smith)Or, to put in simply, what kind of camcorder is your video coming from and how did you get it into your computer?
And, when you started your Premiere Elements project, which settings did you use?

3. Re: no audio after 2 seconds
maxdido Oct 26, 2010 10:52 AM (in response to Steve Grisetti)I have a panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 (it's a photo camera). The camera stores the created movie as a quicktime mov file. When I check the content with mediainfo I see the following info:
container: Quicktime, 261 MB, 3mn 33s
video stream: JPEG 10.2 Mbps, 848*480 (16:9), 30 FPS
audio stream: PCM 64 Kbps, 8000 Hz, 8 bits mono
writing library: pana
How do I get the file into premiere:
I create a new project with settings from the template: PAL-DV-Standard 48kHz
(but I already tryed different templates from pal and ntsc)
File / Get media from / Files and Folders / then I select the .mov file
It's added to my Organize tab
I then select it and drag it to the timeline, track, video 1
Then I immediatly see that the audio has for the most part a flatline, only the first 2 seconds I have sound.
See this picture:
I will start reading the 3 links from John T Smith
But if someone knows the answer I'll be glad to hear from him/her.

When I look into the scratch folder I see only 2 small files:
- P1050529 8000.pek 28 KB
- P1050529.qtindex 1 KB

Steve Grisetti Oct 26, 2010 1:01 PM (in response to maxdido)I don't know that you're going to be able to edit video from that camera natively in Premiere Elements. It looks like it's using a video and/or audio codec that's not compatible with the program.
The FAQs to the right of this forum tell you how to convert this type of video to more standard DV-AVIs.

6. Re: no audio after 2 seconds
maxdido Oct 26, 2010 2:24 PM (in response to Steve Grisetti)I will have a look at mpeg streamclip, but what I find very strange is that I never had any problems in premiere elements with the audio, but since sunday the audio is gone.

7. Re: no audio after 2 seconds
maxdido Oct 26, 2010 2:41 PM (in response to maxdido)I found a solution.
I opened my mov file in quicktime and did a SAVE AS.
I then imported that new mov file into premiere and now I have sound for the entire movie again.
Thanks for your response, it gave me more inside into containers codecs etc.
