Simple way would to size down the portrait you want to add and place it over the top of the other as a layer. Then blend it in.

press Ctrl + CWith the rectangular marquee selection tool select the area where you want to use the image and press Shift + Ctrl + V
If necessary, Press Ctrl + T then hold Shift + Alt and drag one the corners of the transform box until the image fits in the new space the way you like. When done press Enter to apply

If u have or place a smart object in a particular place ,u can just replace the smart object with another one just by clicking on smart object layer panel and choosing replace contents and the image will be replaced with new one .U donot have to do(any thing with ctrl,Shift,c,v) dragging business here with transformation tools, if the photo to be replaced is of same size . It will automatically adjust to already tranformed image.This way u can avoid resizing & aligning for repeat jobs
