4. Re: I Passed the PPro ACE Exam!
Eric Addison Oct 27, 2010 2:46 PM (in response to jeremy d.)Thanks, everyone!
The test was mostly what I expected - some of the questions really made me think as they deal with things that aren't part of my normal workflow or were about things that I don't do that often. Some of the questions were worded odd - and there were a few typos!
What I didn't expect was some of the questions relating to Encore. Don't get me wrong, I use Encore all the time, but it asked questions about features and workflows that I hardly (if ever) use or deal with.
I've been using PPro a LONG time...and I use it almost daily, but in taking the test, I was reminded just how much PPro can do and how sometimes I don't take advantage of everything it can do.

First - way to go!
Second - yours is about the third comment, IIRC, that make comments on the Encore aspect of the test. That has surprised a few others. Still, ya' nailed it, and that is the important part.
Now, in the SD version of the test, do they give extra points for "taking a break and going surfing," or "navigating around slow-moving Zonies?"
Congratulations, and I guess that we can expect a new Profile in the forum, eh?

For which version did you pass.
I thought Encore had it own ACE exam.
I which they gave 15 minutes extra when English is not ones native language.

Hey, maybe I have a chance then, unless they have a test written in "Mississippian," as English is MY second language. I should get an extra hour per question.

Yeah - the Encore parts really surprised me. And as Ann mentioned, I had to answer questions about workflows that I don't really ever use. I'm not sure how much I can talk about being that I signed an NDA, but needless to say, if you plan on taking the test know as much as you can about everything.

While they don't give us extra points, they do allow us breaks or re-scheduling if good surf occurs.
And to answer Ann's question, it was for CS4...I guess they don't have a CS5 test yet.

Thank you so much, Ann and Bill. I was wondering if there was something I can change about my profile. I've got a logo that Adobe sent me, but I'm not sure if that's for use in the forum...is there something I need to do? Maybe that info will be forthcoming from Adobe.

The certificate you can hang at work or over your bed..

I am curious as which place will tickle Eric's fancy. -

Bill Hunt Oct 31, 2010 6:44 PM (in response to RDA972)If he's married, then over the bed is out, as his wife will comment, "that certificate needs to go in the game room," and if he's single, well then over the bed might score points... ?
In my case, it would be "don't you think that needs to go in the dogs' room?"

Eric Addison Oct 31, 2010 7:42 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Being married, I doubt it'll be hung anywhere in the house...that's the wife's domain. Letting me decorate is a HUGE mistake - if you only could have seen my IKEA/Target furnished bachelor pad, you'd know what I'm talking about. Now - home electronics....that's where I make the decisions in the home.
But it will find a nice place in the edit suite at my office...where I doubt it'll score any points with the ladies - not that I'm really trying too.

Bill Hunt Nov 1, 2010 8:33 AM (in response to Eric Addison)Eric,
I understand. Now in my home, I am the "art" person, so long as I am not BUILDING anything. I know my limitations. Though I have an engineering background, if the assembly booklet gets beyond about 4 pages, I hire the project out!
For years, my wife would consult with various "decorator types," but soon discovered that my "eye" was much better, and I came more cheaply too. Now, some things did require some time, for her to warm up to them, like the black walls in our old living room, but after a bit, she agreed that they were stunning with the framed artwork and color accents. Not sure that the buyers really liked it, but paint is cheap.
Again, way to go!
