I've tried importing a large, 77 page Word file into RH8, newest update. One problem: it keeps scanning and won't stop to tell me it's through. However, if I force it by closing down, a file displays the entire Word file. This is the file name: IP5_Phase1_HelpFile1101.htm - Microsoft Word. The problem is when I open the .xpj file in RH, the file is not there. Can anyone help?  The .htm file looks perfect, with the graphics imported, everything. However, I can't find its source file, .xpj!! Very confused...

Standard advice in this situation is to save two copies of the document and trash one half of the content from one copy and the other half in the second copy.

Then try to import into a test project to see which half chokes. Repeat until you find the cause.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your reply. I tried a small section, maybe 3 pages, but the

images didn't come in. Now I'm cutting and pasting from Word into RH topics,

the text first, then import the images later. Seems to work well, but a

little tedious. Then I'll build the books and ToC after all the text

and topics are pasted in.

Also, Peter, what do you mean by "trash" one half of the content? Do you

mean just cut the document in two, save copies of the original and try to

import half the document? And do you also mean the images contained or just

the text and add the images later? Thanks, Gloria

If the document is 100 pages, trash pages 1 - 50 in one copy and 51 - 100 in the other. Then import. See if one imports and one hangs.
