1. Re: CS5: can not save PDF presets
P Spier Nov 2, 2010 12:17 PM (in response to cmeira)The correct path isgoing to look something like this in Windows 7 : C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings.
Make sure that System and your user both have full privileges.
You can also store PDF presets in the All Users profile and they'll be accessible, but not editable (meaning you can't edit the preset itself, but you can still edit the settings in the dialog after selecting a preset), by all users.

2. Re: CS5: can not save PDF presets
cmeira Nov 3, 2010 7:02 AM (in response to P Spier)InDesign CS5/Win7(64)
File, Adobe PDF Presets, Define, Button New:
Button Save as: it's possible to save one of the predefined presets e.g. into "c:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings" with the file name "my own settings".
After opening the menu again, this new preset appears in the list:
But as you can see the buttons Edit (Bearbeiten) and Delete (Löschen) are deactivated. I cannot edit my own preset.
And if I choose this file via Open (Laden) the same error message appears (first screenshot).
I am working with administrator rights to avoid such problems in other programs...
Maybe I should reinstall InDesign?? But I don't have any desire to do this... I just want to work
thanks again

3. Re: CS5: can not save PDF presets
P Spier Nov 3, 2010 7:41 AM (in response to cmeira)Have you checked the permissions on the folder? Everyone should have full access, but the behavior and the warning indicate this is not the case. You might have to specifically add yourself and or System to the list and give fill permission to get this working.

4. Re: CS5: can not save PDF presets
cmeira Nov 3, 2010 8:15 AM (in response to P Spier)Hmm, the following users have full access / all permissions for the folder:
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
- SYSTEM
- myself (an administrator account, registered in our domain)
- Administratoren
I worked first as user with restricted rights (and installed the suite maybe as administrator or temporarily with administrator rights (I don't know it any more)), but since some weeks with administrator rights (same account).
Could this caused my problems (which I did not have in previous versions in previous Windows versions)?

5. Re: CS5: can not save PDF presets
P Spier Nov 3, 2010 8:21 AM (in response to cmeira)Possibly. It's always best to install as administrator.
