Thanks for the reply, however, not sure what you mean by "Get info on the app". If I'm correct I'm working in 8-bit mode?

8-bit mode refers to the bit depth of an image. The 32 and 64 bit modes describe the CPU's architecture. Two totally different things.
To get Lighting Effects back:
Close Photoshop
From Finder go Go>Applications>Adobe Photoshop CS5 folder>Adobe Photoshop CS5 application.
With the CS5 application highlighted, go File>Get Info and check "Open in 32 Bit Mode" in the General Get Info window.
Relaunch Photoshop.
You should see Lighting Effects again!
