In a racing car game that I have, I have a movieclip(tree) inside a movieclip(park) and at a point in the timeline (eg. frame 30), the map with the park appears, however I want the tree to come to the top in front of all the other movieclips(car).
In other words, at frame 30, when it goes to this map, the car can drive over the park, but will appear to be behind the tree when it drives at the same place in the stage.
Thanks in advance.
You have to keep the tree(s) as a separate object from the park and move it above the car at frame 30 either using swapDepths() or changing layers.
Were you to do this is using AS3 you could use code to reparent the tree(s) out of the park when needed.
For other reasons, I can't have the tree movieclip seperate from the park movieclip. I'm using AS2, but how would I use swapDepths or change layers?
If you can't separate the tree(s) from the park, then using those won't be any help to you (though I can't see why you can't separate them). The only other option is to make the car part of the park as well and manage it that way.
