1. Re: Postscript 2 & Fonts
Dov Isaacs Nov 9, 2010 7:20 AM (in response to mckayk_777-PN6kWE)I am assuming from where you are posting this question that you are having problems printing to this imagesetter directly from InDesign. Is that correct? Assuming that this is the case, we are not aware of any problems printing to PostScript language level RIPs if (1) the RIP fully complies with the PostScript Language Reference specifications specific to language level 2 and (2) printing from InDesign uses the correct PPD corresponding to the exact imagesetter RIP being used. We are not aware of any problems printing to printers, imagesetters, or any other RIP with Adobe PostScript Level 2 due to the type of fonts used. The print subsystems of Adobe's Creative Suite products and Acrobat do whatever modifications are necessary to the fonts before putting them in the output stream based on the PostScript language level and the content of the device's PPD file.
FWIW, the last RIPs using Adobe PostScript Level 2 were sold over 12 years ago! Also, Adobe doesn't provide support to end users for OEM products such as Adobe PostScript. In this case, it would be Agfa that would be solely responsible for product support.
