    Bookmarks for PDF

    gailcnyc Community Member

I'm exporting my InDesign book to an interactive PDF. When I click on a chapter in the bookmarks panel of the PDF, the TOC bookmarks jump to the link and display the full page, which is good. But when clicking the bookmarks I added manually to my cover page and the TOC page itself, the jump goes to the first word on the page and not the top edge of the page, which leaves a little bit of the top edge of page 2 showing (I want scrolling display). I tried added to bookmarks to a smaller text box at the top of the page with no text in it, but the bookmark did not show up at all after exporting. Does anyone have any tips on creating additional bookmarks that are not generated by the TOC? Thanks.

You don't have any control over the zoom settings of bookmarks created in Indesign, you could make them in Acrobat....  but thats a PITA.

One thing to try though is setting the page zoom default to what you want the bookmakr zoom to be, you can either do this in Acrobat or from CS5 when using the Interactive PDF export.

Thanks, that's what I ended up doing. I suspected it was more of an Acrobat issue than InDesign. With the default set to open the doct to "single page" the title page and TOC look fine when clicking back to them from within the doct. If later on, one of the users changes to scrolling view, well, it's a minor problem.
