mckayk_777-PN6kWE Nov 22, 2010 5:13 AM (in response to P Spier)Yes peter i know about define, but a lot of the time they are one off jobs and using define would get very messy when all you want to do is save the settings for one job. ie each job I send to the imagesetter I configure the print size to suit that job ie change width to 449mm full width of the film and the hight to 100mm more then the image area. If i happen to be half way through doing all that and realise I have not check to see something is set up right in the job I have to cancel, do whats needed and then start all over again doing the setting.
All I am saying is a Done button would be good in Indesign like it is in Illustrator.

P Spier Nov 22, 2010 5:23 AM (in response to mckayk_777-PN6kWE)Sure, I agree. That's why I include that question mark in the first response.
The obvious answer is don't forget to do stuff before you go tothe print dialog.
But out here in the real world you might save a bit of hassle by making a generic preset with the 449 dimension and some common size for the other dimension. Then there'd only be one thing to change each time.

mckayk_777-PN6kWE Nov 22, 2010 5:43 AM (in response to P Spier)Yeah sorry peter missed the ? at the end of the sentence.
If only we could remember everything but some times its just ...did i change this or check that... cancel check back to print dialog
Tried and have got a generic presete with the 449 but it stuffs up the calculations on how much bleed to add onto the width to make up the 449.
Oh well its only a minor pain. but would be nice to just click a done button check then come back to where you where upto and continue on.
Thanks for the replies, and thanks for the two great tips i learnt from you today they are great.

P Spier Nov 22, 2010 6:15 AM (in response to mckayk_777-PN6kWE)I do agree that tihs would be nice. I'd use it myself.
Rather than "done" I'd prefer to see the button labeled "save settings" so it's really clear what you are doing.
YOu might want to send this in via official channels: Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
