    Question for you all...

    Eric Addison MeganK

Before I call Adobe customer service (something I honestly try to avoid at all costs - love you Adobe, but you REALLY need to work on that), I need some info and I'm hoping people here will know the answer,

A group member of my PPro (sorry, Dennis - I like to abbreviate it) user group is still editing with 1.5 and was looking to buy someone's CS3 or CS4 version that they weren't using anymore. I offered to sell him my CS3 upgrade version since I wasn't using it anymore. When I upgraded to CS5 I got Master Collection, but I didn't get it as an upgrade so the serial isn't tied to any previous versions. I do still have CS4 installed on an older laptop, and that does come from an upgrade version that used my CS3 serial number.

Do I need to let Adobe know that I'm selling this older version, and that serial number won't be used by me anymore? I think I've seen posts about this, but I wanted to ask in case anyone here knew. And would I need to uninstall upgrade version of CS4 that used the serial from CS3?

      Thanks!

If you deactivate the software on your computer, you can transfer it to someone else.

Adobe Customer Service can help you with a transfer of the license. They know more about the details of this kind of thing than anyone on this forum.

BTW, we are "working on that", as you put it.

Thanks, Todd...they were very helpful. And the service (at least based from this one phone call) seems improved.

Now...how to spend the extra cash for selling CS3?? Maybe a new monitor for the edit suite?

              Eric,

Though I have had few interactions, over the last several years, Customer Service (more "sales" related, than Technical Support) has always been great for me. Looks like they helped you here too.

With the few "licensing transfers," that I have been involved in, C/S has done everything by FAX and has been very helpful. When one mentions buying any "used" version of an Adobe program, I always urge the buyer to ask for the full Adobe documentation, prior to any transfer of funds. Adobe makes it easy, so long as all "ducks are in a row."

Good luck, and thanks for reporting your success,
