    Scanning with PSE 9

    Deep Woods Community Member

Using a Windows XP with PSE 9, I select File > Import, but PSE does not display my scanner (Epson V600). This is what I have done:

      1. Uninstalled the old Canon scanner, than reenstalled the Epson Scanner and turned it on.

      2. Made sure the scanner driver opens on its own without PSE. It does.

      3. Updated PSE 9 to the most current version.

      4. Opened the Organizer, went to Preferances > Scanner > Made sure the Epson V600 was selected

      5. In the Editor I selected File > Import > WIA Support, but could not find any options in there to try.

      6. After each change I would turn the scanner off, reboot the computer and turn the scanner back on. Every time I had no issues opening the scanner driver without PSE. I have no difficulties importing pictures from a scanner on other versions of PSE on other computers so I would if anyone has any suggestions as to what the issues are with this machine that would be great.

      Thank you

Adobe no longer install the TWAIN plug-in by default.  In Elements 9, you’ll need to move the Adobe TWAIN driver (Twain_32.8ba), if your scanner requires it, before you can scan into Elements.

In Windows, go to C:\Program Files [Program Files(x86) for 64-bit systems]\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Optional Plug-Ins\Import-Export, find the Adobe TWAIN driver, and move it to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Locales\en_US (this will be different if you’re not in the U.S.)\Plug-Ins\Import-Export.

On a Mac, go to ApplicationsAdobe Photoshop Elements 9Optional Plug-InsImportModules, and move TWAIN.plugin from there into ApplicationsAdobe Photoshop Ele- ments 9Plug-InsImport Modules.

Also worked for me.  Thanks very much.
