    Can not open corrupt file

    BruinSID Community Member

I have a damaged ID file (CS4 on Windows XP) - I cannot open the file to convert to inxx and I tried to delete preferences and that did not work either. It is a small file with only a handful of graphics and 3 pages. Anything else I can try? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

      Thanks

Markzware has recovery for error 05 corruption that can work in some cases. I believe it isn't cheap. At that point if it's something you have already as PDF you could look into some PDF to InDesign software and rebuild that way.

My gut says at 3 pages you'll be able to rebuild it cheaper and faster than you would get it recovered.

Also it is a good practice to have your work backed up. I make a new copy of every file at the time I have to edit it just on the chance of corruption or needing my previous revisions. I've only had 2 files go corrupt in the course of thousands of InDesign files across 6 versions. It's really uncommon.
