static noise in rendered sequence but not in original file

I am new to Premiere Pro (coming from FCP) and I am experiencing a sound issue that I have not been able to find a solution to online.

I have a very simple clip with a video track from a dSLR (Nikon D300s) and a stereo audio clip from a handheld recorder (Zoom H4n recording 48Khz/24bit) audio and my issue is that when I play the rendered sequence there is static noise in the audio track and I can hear plosives whereas the original clip has no such static or as bad plosives.

I actually ran the WAV file from my handheld recorder through Soundtrack Pro to remove noise and clean it up and it's a perfectly clean audio track now...it even sounds perfect in the source monitor...can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?

      thanks in advance!
