Divide a circle in 3 seperate segments

I need to seperate the circle below into three seperate segments. I know it looks like it already is, i threw it into ps and and saved as a jpg to show you since i dont know how to take a screen shot in illustrator.

basically i created the circle using the shapes button then created a smaller circle and subtracted it from the bigger one. I then created 3 seperate curved lines with a stroke of .5, and after going to path>outline stroke i merged all three curved lines together. I moved the curved lines to the top, selected them, and then selected the circle below the curved lines and hit subtract to divide the circle into 3 sections. Only problem is they are not 3 seperate segments. When i use the selection tool to click on the circle it outlines the entire circle along with the strokes i created.

I need 3 seperate segments that are each able to be manipuated on their own. How do I do this?

I tried making the strokes and the circle a compound shape from the appearance panel, and then using the direct selection tool to select the anchor points of the curved lines and then press ctrl+x to cut them out, but that didnt work.cirle open.jpg
