1. Re: Cannot install AIr on HTC Desire with Froyo OS 2.2
Ashishmishr Dec 13, 2010 11:07 PM (in response to athegn)I tried on my HTC Desire with froyo and Air 2.5.1.1774 got downloaded and installed successfully.
Can you please check if you are not running out-of-space on internal storage ?
If problem re-occurs after freeing up space, can you please share output of "adb logcat" ?

3. Re: Cannot install AIr on HTC Desire with Froyo OS 2.2
Ashishmishr Dec 14, 2010 2:54 AM (in response to athegn)"adb" is a binary which is part of Android SDK and can be used to interact with your Android device in command line mode.
Please follow the given steps:
1. Install latest JDK from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html (If not already present)
2. Download Android SDK (as per your platform) from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
3. Android SDK contains "adb" under tools folder. Connect your phone to desktop using usb cable and run "adb devices" to see if it is listed.
4. adb logcat -c ( to clear previous logs )
5. Try to reproduce the issue by trying to download and install AIR
6. If it is a failure, run : "adb logcat" and send us the output.

4. Re: Cannot install AIr on HTC Desire with Froyo OS 2.2
athegn Dec 15, 2010 8:39 AM (in response to Ashishmishr)This will take some time and probably many questions. SO thank you in advance.
I have installed Andriod SDK but am unsure on how to use it.
Firstly connect phone via USB cable; what option do I choose?
Charge only
HTC Sync
Disk Drive
USB tetheringand do a change any other settings on the phone?
Once the phone is correctly connected how do I use the SDK package?
I click on SDK Manager and get two screens; one looks like a blank Windows command screen and the other is the Andriod SDK and AVD Manager; what options do I use?

5. Re: Cannot install AIr on HTC Desire with Froyo OS 2.2
Ashishmishr Dec 15, 2010 11:18 PM (in response to athegn)You need to choose "Charge Only"
Make sure you have Device Debugging enabled on your phone by going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging and ticking the checkbox.
Once your phone is properly connected and Android SDK is installed, then goto the folder where SDK is installed. You will find a folder named "tools" :
Launch cmd.exe
cd to the folder containing "adb" binary
Type "adb devices" ( This should list the device ID of your phone )
Type "adb logcat -c"
Try to download and install "Adobe AIR" from Marketplace on your phone (with USB cable connected)
On command prompt, type "adb logcat" and mail us back the output.
I found a page with detailed instruction for setting up Android SDK for HTC Desire : http://myhtcdesire.com/tutorials/how-to-install-the-adb-driver-on-windows

6. Re: Cannot install AIr on HTC Desire with Froyo OS 2.2
Ashishmishr Dec 16, 2010 3:27 AM (in response to athegn)Found an easier method to send logcat:
1. Download aLogcat application from Android Market
2. Launch aLogcat -> Menu -> Clear
3. Try to download and install Adobe AIR from market
4. If you face any error, relaunch aLogcat -> Menu -> Send -> to "asmishra at adobe dot com"

9. Re: Cannot install AIr on HTC Desire with Froyo OS 2.2
athegn Dec 20, 2010 10:05 AM (in response to Ashishmishr)I am getting somewhere.
I suspect that my 32GB sd card is the problem. If I replace it with the original 2GB card I can install apps. Once I have found how to force apps to install, by default, to the phone ( at present the default is to the sd card) I will format my 32GB sd card and start again (all data backed up)
BTW I now have Adobe Air installed. I installed it to 2GB card then moved the app to the phone.
