1. Re: Nvidia Quadro 4000 and Prodad Vitascene
Bill Hunt Dec 15, 2010 8:16 AM (in response to jesskaat)Hm-m, have not had an issue with Vitascene and my Quadro FX-4500. Not the same as yours, but fairly similar. Can you post a screen-cap of the error message that you get?
Do you have the latest driver from nVidia? If not, that would be my first stop - the nVidia site.
Also, what OS are you on? I'm still on XP-Pro SP3, so am 32-bit.
Good luck,
Hunt

2. Re: Nvidia Quadro 4000 and Prodad Vitascene
jesskaat Dec 15, 2010 8:43 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Here's the screen shot when I try to apply a transition and then modify it. Vitascene will not launch. Also, I have a bunch of transitions I put in with my old graphics card that still work....(and filters) but I can't modify them. Heroglyph and Mercali both work fine.
I've got Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit. Direct X 11 and the latest driver for the new card. The old drivers (ATI) have been removed. Prodad insists it's my problem........

Bill Hunt Dec 15, 2010 9:35 AM (in response to jesskaat)Jessica,
Thanks for those screen-caps. It looks like the error is coming directly from ProDAD.
Now, based on the last one, what version of DirectX do you have? You can Run dxdiag.exe (or similar in later versions of Windows) to get the full details. Might be as simple as downloading and installing a newer version, or maybe something that a new driver would automatically update for you.
Good luck, and please let us know what ProDAD has to say too - maybe something in their response will be useful.

jesskaat Dec 15, 2010 9:38 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Hunt,
I've got Direct X 11 and did all the updates today. Prodad is saying (so far) that it's not thier problem. I can't think of another thing I can do to discover the problem. I can't believe how dependent I am on the transitions and on the filters.
Is there anything else out there that does transitions so nicely?
By the way, it's not working in AE either. So, it really does seem like it's their problem.

6. Re: Nvidia Quadro 4000 and Prodad Vitascene
Bill Hunt Dec 15, 2010 9:41 AM (in response to jesskaat)One alternative could be Pixelan's Spice. They are a great company, and offer "white glove" support. Not sure if their offerings will help you, as Spice is probably closer to ProDAD's Heroglyph.
Did ProDAD put this problem onto nVidia?
Good luck,

7. Re: Nvidia Quadro 4000 and Prodad Vitascene
Bill Hunt Dec 15, 2010 9:48 AM (in response to jesskaat)Please refresh my feeble memory. What OS version are you using?
I cannot recall the exact history, but seem to recall that DirectX 9 was for XP, and with Vista, it jumped up to about 10. I wonder if loading DirectX 9 would work? I have DirectX 9.0c on my XP-Pro SP3 machines. This would be to run a test. Where I am coming from here is experiences that I had with some older 3D paint programs. They were written for a time, when 512MB of RAM was tops. I built a new machine, with 2GB RAM, and none would work, as they saw any RAM amount, beyond 512MB as not usable. I had to build another box, with only 512MB RAM, to run those. I am wondering if Vitascene is seeing DirectX 11 as not recognized, as the program may have been written to see only up to DirectX 9, or perhaps DirectX 10, and DirectX 11 is beyond its database.
When you told ProDAD that you had DirectX 11, did that throw up any flags to them?
Just a thought,

8. Re: Nvidia Quadro 4000 and Prodad Vitascene
jesskaat Dec 15, 2010 9:51 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)I'm using Windows 7 professional. My old graphics card was an ATI Radeon with 2 GBS, so, I don't think the direct x is the problem. I think the card I got is fairly new and maybe they've got to do something in a service pack update to accomdate it?
I just don't know. And, I really don't know what I'm going to do without it. Are you familiar with New Blue FX Video Essentials?

9. Re: Nvidia Quadro 4000 and Prodad Vitascene
Bill Hunt Dec 15, 2010 9:56 AM (in response to jesskaat)Unfortunately, the only exposure to New Blue FX that I have are their Effects included in my older PrElements 4.0 program. As they are a partner with Adobe, at least on the PrE end of the lineup, they should be good - just do not know what's in their portfolio.
Good luck,

11. Re: Nvidia Quadro 4000 and Prodad Vitascene
Bill Hunt Dec 15, 2010 10:42 AM (in response to jesskaat)And to you, as well. Hope that you get to the bottom of this. I hate to have a program, upon which I rely, no longer function. That is what happened to me with those old 3D paint programs. At the time, I could not find alternatives, for several years, and none was ever updated to work with more contemporary systems. I just built a machine, only for them. It was not until recently, that I modified that computer, and now use much newer programs for those tasks. It just took about 5 years for those to become available. Somewhat painful, but it got me by.
Good luck,
Hunt

13. Re: Nvidia Quadro 4000 and Prodad Vitascene
Bill Hunt Dec 16, 2010 8:57 AM (in response to jesskaat)I've contacted them a few times, and also found them slow. Also, I have had to restate the questions a few times. It's like they did not read them, but could be a translation issue, as I think they are in GR and I am in the US.
I'd give them some time. Also, there has been some major bad weather in parts of GR, so they may be digging out form lots of snow right now?
Good luck, and I will be sitting with fingers X'ed for you, waiting to hear what the solution is.

jesskaat Dec 16, 2010 6:13 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)They finally sent me their protocol checker today. I hope they find something to
fix. Meanwhile, I've purchase Pixelan. It's not prodad, but I'm enjoying trying
some new things.

Bill Hunt Dec 16, 2010 7:57 PM (in response to jesskaat)Pixelan is great. I only hope that it does what you want. As mentioned, they offer real "white-glove" C/S. That model should be copied by many.
Good luck, and please keep us updated,
Hunt
