1. Re: Linking to specific text
try67 Dec 26, 2010 2:18 AM (in response to DianeMarieDennis)Do you mean link from a web-page, or within the PDF (like from a button or a bookmark)?
At any rate, you can create a so-called Named Destination to link to a specific point a page (you can even set the zoom level, etc.)
If you link from a web-page, read this to see how to open a PDF at a specific point:

DianeMarieDennis Dec 26, 2010 10:35 PM (in response to try67)Hi!
Thank you for your reply.
I do mean from one line of text within the PDF to a specific line of text within the same PDF.
I can't find anything in Acrobat in regards to Named Destination although something for that comes up in Distiller.
So, I'm still stumped...
And I apologize for taking so long to get back to you, I can't figure out how to set it up so that I am notified when there's a reply to my question.
Thank you again!
Diane

try67 Dec 27, 2010 9:15 AM (in response to DianeMarieDennis)Actually, I see now that you can also do it without explicitly creating a
Destination.
Just create your button (or link), and set the action to "Go to a page
view". A window will then open in the foreground. Go to the location where
you want the button to lead to (you can also change the zoom level, if you
want), and click on the "Set Link" button when done.

4. Re: Linking to specific text
DianeMarieDennis Dec 27, 2010 11:33 AM (in response to try67)Hi!
Thank you again!
I know I can link to a page but that's not what I need.
I need to be able to link to specific text on a page.
See, if the text I need to link to is in the middle of the page then it kind of creates a problem because the link doesn't go directly to that text, instead it goes to the top of the page that the text appears in.
That's not what I want it to do.
I want the text that I link to, to be what shows at the top of the window, rather than the beginning of the page that the text appears on.
Thank you for trying! I'm thinking Acrobat probably can't do what it is I want to do.
Have a good day and week!
